About this mod
Have you ever found it annoying how certain NPCs CAN NOT be assigned to tasks? Have you taken control of a settlement and thought, "I don't want these people living here, why can't I move them?" This is a simple batch file, that includes a basic set of scripts, allowing you to Assign NPCs to jobs and move ones that are "blocked".
- Permissions and credits
No Tricks, just a simple bat (.txt) that is based on info provided by the elustrias creator of Sim Settlements 2, Kinggath! As well as a series of posts available online. Best of all, NO .ESP Required! Simply select the NPC of your choice in console (~), type bat gtw and your done!
Who does this work on?
So far I've tested it on the Named NPCs at Bunker Hill (Kessler, Deb, Kay, Meg, the Savoldis), as well as the families at Nordhagen Beach, Somerville Place, Finch Farm, Tenpines Bluff, County Crossing and Abernathy Farm. This will allow you to not only MOVE them (without force) from their homes, but it also allows you to assign those "lazy" kids to jobs and the correct beds! It "should" also work on any of the random settlers you meet, out in the wasteland. But ONLY if they are named "Settler". Just remember, "Wild" Settlers need to be teleported via console command (moveto player), to the settlement of your choice first. Then you can use the Basic Settlement Assignment feature, easy peasy. I've also had some success with assigning Dogmeat to Guard Duty. As well as moving Jun, Marcy Long and Mamma Murphey from Sanctuary, before the "normal" requirements were met.
Be mindful of NPCs with quests associated with them. Such as, The Abernathys (Returning The Favor), The Finches (Out of The Fire) and Sturgis (Sanctuary). It's recommended you complete their quests, before trying to move them.
Who Does This Not Work On?
It does not allow you to assign or relocate NPCs with names like Caravan Worker, Caravan Guard, DC Guard or the Caravan Traders such as Cricket and Trash Can Karla etcetera. Nor "Special" NPCs, such as Arlen Glass (The Slog) or Phyllis Dailey (Egret Tours). However, with that being said you can change their Equipment (using bat trade) and Stats (with bat GTX or OP)! Your just unable to assign them to a job, at your settlement(s) or base of operations. There may be some other commands or "tricks" I don't know about? For those types of NPCs, you'll generally want to use another option, such the Creation Kit, i.e. Do It Yourself! Feel free to experiment, just don't forget to SAVE YOUR GAME, FIRST!!
Instillation
Simply download the 7.zip file. Locate your Fallout 4 Instillation folder for GOG or Steam (Steam Library > SteamApps > Common > Fallout4 etc.), extract the .txt file into your Data Folder and your done! Be sure to save your game before you use the bat command. Just incase it doesn't work on someone and you can't assign them, as expected. That way you don't wind up with a bunch of "useless" data in your save files, i.e. save bloat!
Uninstall
Simply Delete the .txt file(s), named "GTW||GTWX||OP||TRADE" and your done!
