    Version 1.5

I changed the name(s) of the "Commandable" batch files to something easier to remember and thus quicker to type. That and "MSC" (spell check) kept pestering me about the word! If your happy with the original, there's no need to "update". You can change your .txt files' name(s) to what ever you want. Just make sure to keep the format as ".txt".. blah, blah. This also allows for you to have all of the batch files in your Data Folder, at the same time (GTW, GTWX etc.)!

     I love you all!

Take Your Settlement's Defense To The Next Level!

Weather your in combat or preparing for the next battle, using bat trade you'll not only be able to provide your Settlers with Stealth Boys, but your Turrets as well! Best of all, there's no need to wait until combat has ended. You'll be able to SKIP the dialog all together! Just select your ally in console, use the command and bada-bing bada-boom, your Turrets (and Settlers) will "hide" themselves, during the next attack!

Here's a fun "hack", the next time your facing off against a powerful enemy (Super Mutants, Power Armored Assailants etc.), use "bt" to strip them of their Armor, Weapons and Ammo! It really works! (You'll still need to use the "traditional" Pickpocket method, to remove Fusion Cores from equiped PA Frames. I love that one ^.^)

*I'm not suggesting that you should "cheat" (cough.. single player rpg.. cough) I'm only sharing some fun ideas for the next time your feeling bored.. It's your world, you do you!

Most Assignable Settlement Objects can have Kids and or Animals/Creatures assigned to them. However some Vanilla "SOs" were never intended to have these types of NPCs attached to them, due to the Vanilla Game's Limitations.

You most likely will have the kids just standing around, similar to if you've ever had someone in Power Armor OR a Super Mutant like Strong, assigned to a Guard Post. It's possible their Aggression level may play a part, as well as they're "disposition" towards certain factions? (I'm working on getting that sorted for a separate, but "related" project.)

The NPCs' AI works fine, with these changes. So don't assume it's an issue with the files. It's actually a limitation of the game! As in, it's most likely why Bethesda never intended for us to assign Kids or Dogmeat to Jobs (other than farming). They never got around to making the Necessary Animations.. etcetera.

    P.S.

    I'm 99% sure that's the reason.. lol

    P.P.S.

There is one minor limitation to bat Trade. When using it on Non-human NPCs or Child Settlers that lack the Necessary Trade Dialog. You will need to use the Console Command, each time you wish to "Trade" with them. It's no big deal. And again, at least you're not having to add another ESP, ESL or ESM right? RIGHT!

Would this allow you to make the kids like a Somer be able to work jobs in sim settlements plots, or only farming the built in game crops.

You'll be able to assign them, no guarantees the animation will work. Try it. I know I've seen kids use the Smoking Markers and the parent in me wants to give them the "What for!" 😂

But then I remember it's the post apocalypse, so.. 🤷‍♂️

      Anyway,

If the job produces food, drink or happiness, it will still do so. No matter who's assigned. Bars for instance, should still attract patrons. Salvage Stations, should still produce Salvage etcetera.

Case in point, I recently had Meg at Bunker Hill assigned to a Clothing Vendor Matt and she wanders around the Settlement, doing her normal routine. But after she stopped talking, I could initiate Barter/Trade with her, but all my character (Abigail) would say is, "What do you got to trade today?". Even though Meg doesn't acknowledge it verbally, she still had Clothing to purchase.

Years ago, I had a Robot from Automatron assigned to a bar and it was the same thing. That was in my Minutemen Castle Build. There's a video on my YouTube Channel, called The Castle | As I've Never Seen It Before. In that video, I showed off the bar. That was a Console Build, so it didn't require a "special" script to work.

Well dang. This explains why I couldn't get a lot of NPC's to play nice and be commandable.

    I've only been trying with:

    addkeyword WorkshopAllowCommand
    setpv bCommandable 1

...which didn't work almost every time. Especially if I used a command to spawn a settler or use Cheat Terminal.

I never realized that to trade that using that command would friggin work. Really? Wow. Cool.

I have a lot of nice bat files that I've come up with. Someday I intend to release them. Gotta remember to keep your genius bat files separate. Adding caps to yours of ASgtw might be an idea to keep them separate and keep me appreciative of what you have put together.

I created a bat file to keep track of all my bat files with a couple words to define them, in case I forget. I call it 'thebat' of all things. lol

    So ya, I actually type:

    ~bat thebat

I hope you have a good day and thank you for sharing your bat files.

"It's curtains for you Rocky, CURTAINS!"

We need to petition Microsoft for a "Context Check" program. lol

Since Spell Check only works for misspelled words.

      I fixed that BTW 🤪

Looks like my earlier post asking the difference between this mod and another one on nexus, was taken down by yourself? I'm sorry if you felt I promoted another older mod that seems to do the same thing as yours, by adding a nexus link for it.

Thank you. I'm not sure to be honest. I try not to be distracted and potentially "disappointed" by someone else's work. Unless of course their work or design, inspired mine.

I usually put bat files in the main install folder (the folder with the EXE files)

Whatever works for you. This is a .txt file. When I think "executable", I think of f4se, skse, nvse or the 4gb patch .exe for New Vegas. Something that you or the system physically has to select appon or before game launch.

A ".batch" file, like this one is only meant to be activated manually. It's not something that runs continuously or passively, in the background. It's not automatic, is what I'm trying to say.. lol

      Edit

Just realized you said "..with the EXEs". I read that as "I place all of my EXEs.."

Anyway it's good for people to know the difference, because you know someone will ask! 😂
