I don't know if you're still around, but OMG thank you so much for this!  I had a hell of a time removing the AWKCR master but I'm hoping this should work now.  This was something that always bothered me when trying to change Mama's outfit.

AWKCR master? Is this something I should update it for? It's been ages since I made this.

Glad you like it, anyway. :)

Yes, the mod requires AWKCR which I refuse to use.  Ever.  It's even in the required pulldown on the main page.  I just made a dummy ESM in Wrye Bash and now I can't even remember how I did it LOL!  But I keep a copy of that in my files so if a mod requires that... thing, I can use the dummy.  Unless of course said mod has more moving parts like crafting and such, then it's just a hard pass for me.

May I ask why you refuse to use AWKCR? If there's a good reason I, I'm sure I could make a version without it.

Basically it's bloatware.  It has way too much crap in it, causes all sorts of problems (for most people), and it's not necessary unless mod author's choose to use that framework vs. another.  It's also pretty outdated.  I'm perfectly happy using ACO for crafting and making items invisible as that's all I really need and the MA has specifically made it lightweight and very compatible.  And I only use that if I'm not playing Horizon which has everything already included.

Look, modding is like art, it's subjective.  People still use Scrap Everything, too, and that has been proven over and over to break saves along with the game.  People just don't read, or educate themselves on what mods do before just chucking them into their game because it sounds like a good idea.  Nothing against our mod authors as a whole, but not every MA even knows some of this stuff.

You do not bloat your game with a HUGE and pretty much unnecessary crafting framework (I use Workshop Framework because hey, Kinggath, nuff said), and you don't load your game with a mod that breaks previs and precombines.  And people wonder why they have 20 fps in Boston, or why when they move a certain way walls disappear and they can see the sky or even under the world.

Sorry, I totally dropped the ball on responding to you, so I'm sure this is way too late to be helpful, but maybe someone else will benefit:

I've just returned to FO4 after many years and remembered about the headwrap/AWKCR question. I re-learned how to use xEdit (I appreciate that it exists, but my god, its learning curve is steep, even if you've used it in the past) and followed a tutorial on extricating your own mod from the clutches of AWKCR. After successfully creating a version that doesn't rely on AWKCR, I went to the Files section to upload it, and saw that the original 1.00 release was identical to the 1.01 release that you download by default, aside from the fact that I added AWKCR support in 1.01.

So, uh, yeah, there's been a version without AWKCR there the whole time. Look for version 1.00 in the Files section. ???? My bad, I wish I'd remembered something about that and just told you back when you asked. It's just been so long that I had no clue I originally uploaded it without.

I'll update the description to point this out.

All right, I promoted the old 1.00 back to the main file, and tweaked the file version on both of them so it's clear they're the same content but with/without AWKCR, and then edited the description to call this all out. I hope this helps!

Is it possible to use this without AWKCR? That mod is pretty much obsolete and dangerous to use by now. Thanks!

There was actually an old non-AWKCR version in the Files section, but apparently people haven't been seeing it, so I've decided to swap the primary download to that anyway. Try downloading that—you want version 1.01i.

This is great, it was one thing that bothered me about Mama Murphy's wardrobe. Thanks!
