Friend- Why would anybody complain. Back when I was playing FO4 on the horrible X-Box, for every structure I built, I was trying to make said structure darker and moodier. My goal, for all of my settlements, was to have a twisted sinister theme attached to them. Without mods that was impossible. Excellent
You know, not everyone likes this or that, it's happened before that when someone had some observations and rational arguments, I changed things. But I'm glad that people like this. Enjoy!
Holy heck this is like Alien Isolation and The Thing horror theme. Didn't realize just how lame and bland the vaults were in Fallout 4 until I saw this mod. Will definitely download and use it, when I have the time. Wish there were more mods that brings the true horror the franchise originally aimed for. For what is worth, gaming is my hobby and I'm an architect.
Thank you! This is exactly what I wanted and am trying to do, I want to pull FO4 out of fairy tale land and throw it into the pit of horror where it belongs, but at the same time, make it nice to look at.
The mod does not change the lighting, only the textures, you can use them with any mod that modifies lighting, in fact, I also use ELFX for my mods, because with it I can see the textures when I test them. But be prepared for the interiors to be darker with my mods, and so will the exteriors for that matter.
You don't need to start a new game. You can use all my mods anytime, you can install and uninstall them whenever you want and you can use them with ELFX. I will soon release retextures of all buildings, Covenant settlement, capsules, airports, bunkers, etc. - 1,032 textures, the same rule will apply for this. Just like the interior textures, the exterior textures will darken the surroundings.
Absolutely love all of these ZP series mods, they truly do return Fo4 to the series' roots and add insane levels of immersion back into the game, thank you for all the work you do honestly!
I did just have one quick question regarding this mod though - is it compatible with Vault 88 Essentials? I would assume it could be if that mod uses base game textures, but they do also add some new rooms, which might mean it's only partially compatible?
My plans got mixed up, the hammer of unpredictability hit my life, real life problems arise and so I don't know when I'll do this. I have other mods in the works, but I just don't know when I'll get to them. I hate real life
Installation instructions are in the Description. This is one of the easiest mods to apply on the planet. If it doesn't work for you, maybe you should enable Archive Invalidation and use a mod manager.
I went over it several times and all I saw was install with mod manager, which of course I did while making sure everything was enabled. I thought maybe I needed to edit some files or something. I am guessing there is a conflict somewhere.
Because those are the installation instructions - use a mod manager. You don't have to do anything else, but what you have to do is master the basics of modding. Are you using the ba2 version or loose? If you are using the ba2 version, put the plugin in last place, if that doesn't work, then you have some loose textures installed, which have priority over my plugin, so they are overwriting my textures. I don't know what you have installed, you have to know that. It will probably be easiest for you to download the loose version, install it and overwrite all the textures that are supposed to be overwritten.
I get why you'd want to change them but I don't see why you feel the need to s#*! on the original. It's different sure, but it's a good contrast to the desolate wasteland and how vaults are basically a small slice of the old world. I'm saying this as someone who thinks FO4 looked pretty bad overall
Dude, where did you see me trying to s#*! on this game? It's one thing to dislike a modder's work, but it's another to accuse him of some nonsense he never did. These textures are for players who miss the feel of the good old games. I'm one of them, so I did this for myself, but also for others. This is what it looks like when a modder shits on the original game?
how is spending a huge chunk time, afford and passion into modding a game and doing texture overhaul mods 'shitting' on a game? :7c
disney theme park attraction layouting is how i describe the gamedesign of fo4 and skyrim :7
and vanilla vaults really have this Adventure Thru Inner Space vibe. the colours alone, how they dive into this 50s aesthetics retrofuturism vibe, with that colorpalettes. i really like the reinterpretation. it is like modding skyrim a bit more dark fantasy to shift the overall tone from this 2011 vikings clichee thingy.
i like how much a simple tone shift of the main story dungeons just shift the tone to a fo2 vibe. an interesting exercise in immersion.
No its not a good contrast. Bethesda literally doesnt care about the OG games. even Pete HInes iterated as much: We're not beholden to something written 20 years ago, we like to pretend that we were the oG creators. They do not care and it shows. Mods like this are the ones that show there's still love and care towards the art and designs from Fallout 1 and 2, not just New Vegas. Fallout was supposed to be a grim world that was rebuilding, not a cartoonified shooting gallery like what Vanilla Fallout 4 is. ZP has the right idea.
ruzzlefuzz WraithDarkShade41 Thanks guys. I'm trying to literally take Fallout 4 back to the era when Fallout was still a dark post-apocalyptic sci-fi RPG and not like now, as you described. I can't do it through code, smarter people than me do that, so I'm trying to do it through textures and sometimes sounds. When I'm done with this, FO4 will look completely different. It's just a shame that real life prevents me from doing it faster After some time, I will probably also redo what I created (some things) due to my experiences that I have gained over time.
You made my game more immersive, I clicked on the endorse button, which I usually never do, bravo!

Yes, I would have to make a texture patch for that. I'll put it on my list. I should have time for it on Saturday/Sunday.
