About this mod

Basic mod that adds craftable Resource Crates that provide food and water. Perfect for Raider Outposts, that hate farming and don't want to rely on Vassals, or trading hubs, that want to focus on trading and not on farming. Simply build one or more resource crate(s) and your settlers food & water requirements are met.

This mod is meant for people like myself, who are too lazy to dive deep into settlement stuff, planting crops, building water purifiers and hook them up to power sources, of course after hauling tons of junk around to have the material to build all of this. Simply build one or multiple Resource Crates and all of your settlers water and food needs are taken care of.

The main reason why I made this mod was because I like to play as Nuka World Raider Overboss and take over the Commonwealth. Unfortunately, Raiders don't like to farm their own food and any food that is produced at an Outpost will have a hefty -3 happiness per food unit. So one farmer who farms the usual 6 food will also produce -18 happiness. This is why Outposts rely on Vassals, where poor farmer are forced into sharing their resources with the Raiders. The problem here is, that Vassals have to become a settlement first, then build it up to the max with farmers that, once bullied into becoming a Vassal, produce enough food to support the Raiders. This is time consuming, requires planning ahead and is in general annoying, if someone isn't into settlement building. This is where the Resource Crates come into play. Simply build a few in your Outpost and all your food and water problems are gone, without losing any happiness.

FAQ

Q: Is this mod compatible with the next-gen update?
A: I don't know, because I don't have the next-gen installed. But given the fact that this is a very basic mod that doesn't use scripts or other fancy techniques, I'm 99% sure that it should work just fine with next-gen.

Q: How to install the mod?
A: Like any other mod, use a mod manager like Vortex.

Q: Can this mod be uninstalled mid-playthrough without corrupting my save file?
A: Yes. However, to be safe, scrap every Resource Crate first, before you uninstall the mod.

Q: Where do I find the Resource Crates in-game?
A: Workshop build menu -> Resources -> Miscellaneous

Q: What do the Resource Crates provide?
A: Small 2 Water 2 Food, Medium 6 Water 6 Food, Large 12 Water 12 Food

Q: What material do I need to build the Resource Crates?
A: Small 4 Wood and 4 Tato, Medium 6 Wood and 12 Tato, Large 12 Wood and 12 Tato and 6 Mutfruit

Q: Where the heck do I get Tatos and Mutfruit from to craft Resource Crates?
A: At almost every settlement, you can simply harvest them. Abernathy Farm has like 20 Tatos. If you do the first MM settlement quest you are sent to Tenpines, which has Tatos. On your way to Diamond City you should come across Greygarden, which has Mutfruit and Tatos, and Oberland Station with Tatos. In Diamond City, in the back by Abbot, is a metric ton of Mutfruit and Tatos. There is really no shortage on crops to build Resource Crates!

Q: What is the difference between the DLC and Vanilla version?
A: Purely visuals. The DLC version uses nicer crates from the Far Harbor DLC, that actually look more like food storage. The vanilla game has only a handful of wooden crates to choose from and they appear very generic.

Q: Can you make crates with xyz amount of food/water?
A: Maybe, but no guarantee. If you know the basics of FO4Edit, you can change the crates to whatever amount you like within a couple of seconds.
