This is great, but the only problem I have encountered is some of the pieces remain static on the air. Is there any way to make them fall to the ground?
Yes. By adding the correct havoc file to their NIF. Maybe another oversight by BGS. Which objects precisely? I can add a mod which adds the correct havoc if you tell me. Although non of the parts stuck in air during my own testing.
OpposingFarce great research, i experimented with it abit and a recommend to you to use "Ragdoll" aswell instead of "to_Land_Crash" my bad did not work during testing, no idea why it worked once. Your mod is far superior to vanilla.
Fun Fact, the reason why they do this is because it was originally planned for you to be able to loot the wreckage of the vertibird. The wreckage container object was scrapped but is still in the game and i'm pretty sure a few mods use it.
in the beginning i thought it was a cool effect, but after a few dozen times it got annoying because it happened every time.
it reminds me of that starwars game from like a decade ago, force awakens i think it was called, anyway you can take down that giant ship from orbit of a planet, it was cool that it would head to the player as it broke down, but i like the idea of a near miss but in this game sometimes you can't escape the fall, and i have died or nearly died due to these things falling on or near me, so it's kind of cool but it's also kind of dumb that it happens every time, they should have left some kind of chance factor in there, like it would head your direction only 10% of the time.
This started bothering me when I was doing a Brotherhood of Steel playthrough. A vertibird was flying around like miles away and barely visible fighting some raiders. Vertibird starts to take damage and suddenly it veers and beelines to me who is nowhere near it or in the line of sight of it as if the driver was trying to kamikaze me a fellow member of the brotherhood.
This a cool mod! I haven't actually had vertibirds crash into me in my prior playthroughs (they always got downed far away from me because their pilots would engage Raiders or Super mutants armed with deadly pipe weapons /s), but I noticed they always seemed to coincidentally crash on/near me in my most recent one, after I buffed their health. I made a quick search and your mod popped up, uploaded not too long ago. What are the odds?
Would it also be possible to make it so that killing the pilot also downs the vehicle? Pilot-less vertibirds don't make any sense.
The thumbnail is perfect, did not expect to get a laugh coming to Nexus and i'm thankful for that too but for this mod also as i myself never noticed this Vertibird behavior but i have a faint memory of dying to this so i think it's not fun on survival / it's not immersive
