This mod places fifty-eight (technically sixty-two, but one of them is spread across five pieces of paper) completely new notes scattered throughout Vault 111, ranging in tone from lighthearted drama to bleak tragedy, all there for the player to discover as they escape the Vault. They have been designed to blend-in with the vanilla story, some of them directly incorporating and expanding upon the events inferred from the terminal entries and corpses that you find in the game, and some featuring unrelated interpersonal communications between the Vault staff members who spent their last months alive locked in there together.
A few notes are tucked-away in corners, while some are right out in front of you in plain sight along the way, to accommodate both players who prefer to breeze-through areas and those who like to take their time poking-around. There's no reward for finding them all, other than getting to read them all, so don't worry if you miss one or two—they'll be waiting for you to discover next playthrough!
Nothing in the Vault has been changed, and nothing has been added other than the aforementioned notes (and a few pencils).
Installation:
Either install with your favorite mod manager or download manually and drop it directly into your data file. The plugin is esl-flagged so it will not take up a slot in your load order.
Obviously this mod works best on a new game, as that is when you're in Vault 111, but you can go back and retrace your steps to find the new notes there at any point if you don't want to wait for a brand new character.
Technically you shouldn't install/uninstall any mod in the middle of a game...but this one is as safe as possible, since all it does is add some clutter to one rarely-visited cell. I won't recommend installing it mid-game, since that's Bad Modding Practice...but if you're somebody like me, who engages in that sort of thing all the time already: yeah, this is safe to install mid-game. Or as safe as anything can be.
It has been successfully tested on both a new game and an existing playthrough.
Compatibility & Patch Permission:
All this mod does is add some notes sitting on floors and shelves and desks and tables, so it's pretty low-effect. However, any mod that severely modifies Vault 111 might run into issues (depending on how it's set-up) with this mod overwriting some of its needed changes by reverting things back to vanilla. My suggestion then is to make sure that this mod loads before any of those mods, as their changes are sure to be more important. The worst that should happen to this mod is that some of the notes won't be accessible, or might be floating in strange places if the surface they were sitting on has moved or vanished, etc. Nothing in Vault 111 has been edited, so let your other mods perform their edits and overwrite this one wherever needed.
Anyone is welcome to make compatibility patches to adjust the clutter-placement of this mod to mesh better with others.
*I do re-use some of the same assets (a bloodstained note texture) that I originally made for another mod, so if you use that mod as well (and if you like this one, I suggest you go download that one too, as it adds more lore notes like these across the whole Commonwealth) and your mod manager detects conflicts, don't worry about them. It doesn't matter which mod overwrites the other, as they're the exact same assets. Probably let the other one win, as it's more likely to get updates as I cover more parts of the world, but it really doesn't matter.
