I didn't expect such popularity, if I don't answer someone's questions, sorry, but reality hits with the hammer very hard and time is very short. Thanks to everyone here! 18/10/2024 UPDATE - scorched impact textures, new jet pac fire for true hardcore steam punk fans - smoke the world - see pictures, some smoke and ember texture. Note. If you don't want the new jet pac smoke texture, delete this: Data\Textures\Effects\Gradients\JetpackGrad_d.DDS 19/10/2024 UPDATE - update for particle coming from fire - see last pictures. Sorry for these micro-updates, I'll summarize it later, but I'm working on other things and figuring out what else I've missed. Install all updates that appear here.
Some users mentioned "white flame issue" with The Fens Sherrif's Department 2 mod. ZP's Fire and Smoke no Gradient version uploaded. I don't use The Fens Sherrif's Department 2. I haven't seen white flame in the vanilla game.
I have an oddly specific question, but I couldn't think of anyone else to ask - do you know what fire effect burning cars use? I'd like to modify them to cast light over a larger area, they look gorgeous with your textures but the beautiful fire is a weird contrast with the almost total lack of illumination. I've been combing through the game files in xEdit, but have yet to find the correct fire effect to change.
As far as I know, the burning car uses 2 light effects. One comes from the fire and the other directly from the car. The fire light has a flicker effect and the other light doesn't. If you notice, when the car burns down, it still emits a faint light. I really don't know which effect it is, maybe one of them is FXFireLight01?
Update, *both* the light effects are FXMPSFireMed - for some reason, it flickers while the fire effects are burning, then goes solid once they burn out. This is much weirder than I expected and I'm not quite sure how to work with it, but I'll keep testing.
I am having this odd bug in which exploded cars continues to burn forever. Would this mod also replace texture of rusted car as well. The fire just does not stop.
This mod is just textures, no code, no program, nothing like that. I personally don't know what might be causing your "eternal fire" bug, but this mod definitely doesn't. Fire and Smoke mod does not replace textures of rusted cars. You will have a problem with some other mod that changes the fire system via a plugin.
DBxv2gameplays Your graphics card will be hot, flames and smoke are something completely different from regular textures. Until the flames appear, everything can be going pretty well and then suddenly boom, FPS is thrown out the window. Watch the videos :D
If you take on this task, I highly suggest reading out to the author of Improved Ballistic Lighting, I fcking love that mod so much, and if you could expand or even make it better, I will do whatever I can to help and promote the fcking sht out of it!
VerdictofOdin Do you have any problems with that mod? I read the comment section years ago and people were having all sorts of issues, plus I had some too and from what I can see, nothing has changed since then. I'll admit, the more I mod, the more I think about that 4K flame, since I also have a "new" computer. Have you seen the new trailer for Death Stranding 2? There's fire there that you'll probably never see in a game.
It's vanilla resolution, the textures are improved. Some textures are upscaled/improved 2 times, some even 4 times up to max 2K. I will definitely come back to these textures sometime and apply my knowledge to them, which I have collected while creating textures.
Hi the mod works great but for some reason the smoke (on the generators for example) only render when I am a few in game ft away. Do you know what setting I might be able to change somewhere?
I have fade distance settings all set to max and my ugrids are higher than vanilla settings.
I have built all the generators in the game, I have no problem with smoke, in fact I have no problem with smoke and fire at all. The problem probably won't be with the fading distance or some similar setting. 1. uGridsToLoad - I personally use 5, that's the default, but I've read several times that using 7 is fine, I wouldn't use more, because quests start earlier, crashes increase, game is broken, in my opinion saves will be broken too. I personally won't use 7 either, the game is built for 5. 2. Do you have precombines disabled by any chance? bUseCombinedObjects=0 if so, maybe this will be the problem. I can't help you more, since I haven't encountered such a thing yet, sorry.
I was far enough away and I saw smoke. These are just improved vanilla textures, I didn't set anything up, didn't program anything, didn't change anything. I tested these textures in my game for quite a while before I released it and I didn't see any anomalies.
That was the point of these textures, to increase their quality and size, I'm afraid that if I reduce them, you'll probably be where vanilla is now. They look good because their size is larger, which allowed me to squeeze more details in there. I'll tell you the truth, what I told another user a few minutes ago with a similar request, I have very little free time, I don't know if I'll be able to fulfill this, I can't promise anything. If I may ask, what kind of computer do you have - specs? These textures are a mix of 2K and 4K. Will it be okay if I make the 4K textures 2K?
Look, I don't know how this will look after the program adjusts it. If I were you, I would use ONLYZP's Fire and Smoke no Gradient ba2. Gradient textures are tricky, I changed one pixel and the color of the smoke changed. If the program reduces the gradient texture, the colors might be different, I really don't know. Use only ZP's Fire and Smoke no Gradient ba2.
ZP's Fire and Smoke ba2 ZP's Fire and Smoke UPDATE ZP's Fire and Smoke UPDATE 02 The fact that your game crashes can mean many things, including that your graphics card cannot handle the game and has run out of memory. What graphics card do you have? This mod contains both 2K and 4K textures, it is not for everyone. My mod is just textures, I don't see any other common reason for CTD - crash to desktop. Another reason for the crash can be overheating.
Thanx! Well, that's how smoke works. When you're in front of it or in it, you can't see shit. Go to Youtube and type "Black smoke bomb" and you'll see a very similar effect to the one in the game.
Yes, but considering the gameplay, this simulation of reality may not be appropriate. Therefore, I had to give up using weapons that produced smoke effects, such as explosive ammo, missiles. As well as missile launchers on robots. In particular, Ada's missiles would keep causing much smoke and I couldn't see any enemies in the smoke. Any way to increase the visibility? Or doesn't effect those weapons which produce smoke? I like the MOD's effect but also don't wanna give up those weapons.
This is the first time I've read about something like this. Are you using any ENB or Reshade? I've been in the game now and tried all sorts of weapons that cause smoke and explosions and I don't have this problem. I haven't tried Ada, but I've tried the rocket launcher and the fatman. The only thick smoke I have in the game and that I did on purpose comes from the PA jet pack (inspired by Mutant Chronicles). Could you upload some pictures so I can get an idea of it? There are also two videos from the same user where everything looks normal and he has as much stuff there as an army of destruction.
In the last three pictures, the last one is where the Deathclaw is burning and thick smoke is coming out of it, which is normal. Did you mean this? Do you by any chance have a mod installed that somehow enhances the smoke coming out of the rocket launchers? My rocket launcher is emitting smoke, which is fine, I have no problem with visibility. It's strange because this is the only case out of 12399 downloads.
I'm using THE ENHANCER ENB. I only installed 2 MODs about smoke.Besides your MOD, Fallout 4 Particle Patch - No More Glowing Objects is another one MOD about smoke. Usually, because the smoke dissipates quickly, it doesn't affect sight much. E.g. explosive ammo. But Ada's continued missile attacks would cause a lot of persistent smoke, that would be very bad.
Maybe it's the ENB? I made a robot with two rocket launchers and two cluster bomb launchers, spawned 5 deathclaws and apart from the usual explosions I had no problem with visibility. I really don't know where the problem could be. I didn't change anything about the smoke density.
Disabled ENB still exiting this issue, never mind, since only me has the issue, probably not your MOD's problem. It's a great MOD, thanks for your help!

Maybe one day I'll make a new 4K version with lasers and other effects like impact effects, bullet impacts, etc.
