Everyone has their own opinion on what is the proper balance. This mod contains mine. Please be respectful and don't add comments about game balance as this is highly subjective.
Feel free to edit this mod in FO4Edit and change whatever settings you would like. It is very easy to do!
I set the maximum settlement population to 22 since this seems to be the sweet spot for the smaller settlements in the game. I understand that the larger settlements can support more than this but until we can specify a unique max population to each specific settlement this is the best compromise.
I may consider a modular version later if the mod becomes popular.
This mod isn't meant to be a cheat so no cheat version will be provided. Settlement building/resources was far too painful with the current implementation, hence this mod was born.
Added a new optional file: No Crafting and Settlement Building Experience
This stops all experience gain from crafting (all types) and settlement building (all types) in the vanilla game. May not affect crafting added by mods.
I thought leveling was way too fast, especially during the first half of the game. 50% of my experience and leveling was due to crafting and settlement building. This mod will make leveling slower and more progressive.
oh my god thank you so much, i hated having to spam crops in some random corner just to get the food up to par it's even worse when there's no lake around so you have to also spam water pumps the entire point of "turrets having power" was always dumb when the first 2 machine turrets didn't, hated making a personal generator just for laser turrets. thank you so much for this
Good to see you back, thanks for the mod mate. By the way do you think anything can be done so that settlements can properly defend them selves? I am tired of getting the messages "help defend blabla" and if you don't drop everything you doing and go there they will always loose despite the settlement having 50 turrets.
I've had similar issues. I recommend two mods that have helped tremendously:
Better Settlers - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4772/? Advanced Settlement Turret Set - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8115/?
You can also give your settlers better armor and weapons. I do the following on all of my settlers:
1. Open up the console 2. Click on the settler using your mouse (number code should end in PP or EP usually) 3. unequipall 4. Close the console 5. Trade gear with the settler and remove all items you don't want them to have 6. Give the settler new weapons and armor 7. Highlight the new weapons and armor and select T to have the settler equip them immediately
Ah kudos and bless you sir! I needed a mod like this, especially with the settlement building level uncapped. So far working seamlessly on my in progress game. Good job and thanks for sharing it!
Edit: I wonder if you could answer a question for me. It's not major yet (unless it persists), just a pain, but I've noticed that since I've been using the mod, all my crops and beds need to be reassigned. Even though the resource will say it has been assigned, five minutes later, it again shows it still needs to be. I put this mod pretty high up and above Bettler Settlers, and those associated with it. I've also noticed some odd behavior such as settlers being on roofs (lazily not working!) and like Piper re-equipping her old clothes and not re-equipping clothes sometimes after going to the bathroom.
Wasn't sure it has anything to do with this mod, perhaps with load order and where I've placed it. But this is the only new mod I have installed, which is when I started to notice these things. Any suggestions or other reports of this? Thanks in advance!
Is there a way to increase settlement population to 30 via FO4Edit (not certain if I can change the value that way and if so what to change?)
Also would this mod be compatible with Northland Diggers - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9710/? and Uncapped Settler's Surplus - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12430/? mods?
great mod. question though, since the named settlers are now essential, what happens when using mod like ''dont call me settler'' , that gives random names to settlers ? will it make them marked as essential too ?

Does this work with DLC, because I have hit a build cap in Far Harbor at the Dalton Farm.

Great mod but I have a couple of questions;
