To be honest, when I conceived this mod and started working on it, I planned to replace only the burnt books, that is, BurntBook01.nif and BurntBook02.nif. I did not plan to change the "overdue book". At the time of creating this mod, I did not know that the "overdue book" uses the model (mesh) BurntBook02.nif. This was discovered after the publication of the mod.
That's interesting they use the same mesh since they look different ingame.
I really love your replacers and they play very well with Sim Settlement 2, since the plots get the new looks, and this one is an other great one because there is a lot of books that benefits from it, but now is impossible to distinguish overdue books other than point to each individual book in the world. So I decided to disebled it for now :(
... they use the same mesh since they look different ingame.
There is nothing weird about burnt book and overdue book using the same mesh but looking different in-game because the same mesh uses different textures (burnt book and overdue book) via a BGSM file. This cunning (idiotic) trick Bethesda uses a lot in Fallout 4. Unfortunately, as I said, I found out that this trick was also used for burnt book and overdue book after I finished this mod and released it for public use. 😕
So I decided to disebled it for now :(
This is really sadly... 😞 But you have every right to do this. It is your personal choice.
I guess that if I manually delete BurntBook02.nif from the meshes folder from the mod and then I deploy the mod, I will get the overdue books looking normal, but the burn ones will be divided between your replacer and the ugly vanilla ones, right?
Yes, that's right. You will see vanilla overdue books, and one of the two burnt book variants will also be vanilla. You will only see one variant of my burnt book instead of two. However, I wanted to correct my mistake. Pay attention!!! I made this mod a long time ago, my memory failed me. The overdue books uses BurntBook01.nif Not BurntBook02.nif, but BurntBook01.nif. Accordingly, you need to delete BurntBook01.nif. I apologize for my bad memory and for the mistake at first.
No need to apologize, sir. The amount of time I have to invest to test both is nothing compared to you making this amazing models. And you were right, is BurntBook01 the meshes of overdue books. Atleast now I can use half of your mod, that is better than nothing. I know I could get rid of overdue books, but I like to collect trash :o
Hi! I've faced the same issue, and after reading the explanation of how it works, I thought maybe you could consider adding an overdue book texture in a future update?
P. S. Thank you for all your models, they are very чарівні та аутентичні! 🙂
@simpossiblexx I made the overdue book textures two days after this mod was released, once I found out that overdue book also uses BurntBook01.nif. However, I couldn't get it to work, since I know next to nothing about how BGSM works. I tried to do it with Base Object Swapper, but that didn't work either. For this reason, overdue book textures are stored on my SSD as useless files that I feel sorry to delete... 😒
Thanks for explaining! I’m curious if the issue is just with the .nif files. If that's the case, maybe we can just replace the .dds files (to match the original meshes, of course). Or could it be more complicated because of the BGSM feature...
Anyway, good luck learning all the details and making even more great replacers! 🙂

This is absolutely impossible. This is technically impossible, because my dds files (textures) are absolutely incompatible with anything. My textures are created exclusively for my own meshes, because I create textures directly on the surface of my own mesh, which has its own unique UV. I have never worked like Bethesda or other authors who create just retextures for vanilla meshes (not new 3D models, like me). That is, when a primitive texture is first created, after which the UV is "adjusted" to this texture. I have never worked like this and do not intend to do such primitive and low-quality work. That is why my textures (dds files) are incompatible with vanilla NIFs, or any other NIFs, except my own. For this reason, what you suggest is impossible.
Sorry for misunderstanding, I didn't mean to use your own .dds textures on vanilla meshes. I meant it purely hypothetical as a solution of a problem with overdue books, like, would it work if make retextures without changing the meshes.
Now I understand what you mean. Of course, if someone just makes a retexture for the vanilla mesh it will work. That's what thousands of other authors do. They don't create new 3D models (meshes) like I do, they just create textures for vanilla meshes and it always works without problems.
t's nice to hear that you like my mods. 😊 Of course you can combine my mods into a pack on your PC if you want. Just make sure to place it at the very bottom of your mod list so that my files win all conflicts.
What are you talking about? My mod has no effect on the pre-combined meshes. The mod mod does not break anything for the simple reason that it does not edit, change, or affect any pre-combined meshes in the game. My mod only changes the two meshes specified in the description. My mod interacts (changes) only standalone lootable books, and does not break any pre-combined meshes. In all pre-combined meshes you will see original vanilla burnt books NIFs without any changes, accordingly there can't be any breakages of pre-combined meshes.
