What's in the mod?
Next to Hubris Comics sits the entrance to the BATTLEDOME (The latest in immersive VR experiences!), home to the Bug Blaster Simulation, perfect for all those seeking Citizenship or just wanting to spread Managed Democracy throughout the stars!
Enter and defend Outpost Whiskey from the Megabug swarm! Have you got what it takes?
- Custom enemies!
- Custom armours!
- (Very small) Custom worldspace!
- Never ending swarms of freedom hating foes!
How to play?
Activate the Bug Blaster programme from the Terminal in the BATTLEDOME lobby, then enter the simulator.
Once inside the simulation head to the outpost, ready yourself and then choose which swarm you want to face (Easy, Medium or Hard, or a combination) using the brightly coloured buttons.
To return to the BATTLEDOME simply exit through the door you came through.
Things to be aware of:
- This mod spawns a large number of enemies, so how laggy things get depends on your system. The Megabugs are fairly low-poly and have 1-2k textures in an effort to help your system cope. This can run quite happily on an NVIDIA 1650Ti and an Intel i5 laptop (for reference).
- Despite trying I couldn't find a way to automate an instant cell reset, so once your turrets and bots are dead...they're gone.
- Fallout 4 by default only let's around 80 NPCs be active at a time, so if you spawn multiple waves simultaneously, don't be surprised if some just stay put. This mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/82635) apparently raises that limit, although I've not tested it myself.
- For a true Starship Troopers experience, be sure to download the Morita Battle Rifle mod here (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21423). A patch is available in this mod's optional files to outfit the Outpost NPCs with these rifles.
- Despite some vague set dressing, this mod is obviously not very lore-friendly. It is intended as a fun little experience.
