About this mod
The Tempered Steel coating for Neeher's SE-01 Power Armor lists a 50% reduction in Fusion core use for the SE-01.
However, in-game this doesnt work and is patched here.
Patch was made per my ask, by IneptEuropean, I merely tested, and published it.
Don't let the listed "0kb" of the file fool you, it's there.

The Tempered Steel coating for SE-01 promises a 50% reduction in Fusion core use.
However, this is not achieved in-game..
This patch restores the 50% Fusion Core use reduction promised by this mod's lore for tempered Steel Coating (actually in my testing slightly more reduction even, depending on rounding could be as high a 60% for 10% per armor piece), with Tempered Steel coating if all 6 pieces equipped.
This patch only works on the .esl version of neehers original file.
And maybe its just me, but doesnt the Torso, especially in the back (where all the hydraulic pumps and energy "live") somewhow look modern and energy efficient in comparison the Vanilla armors?
This is quite a useful feature in my opinion, especially from an immersion perspective; you now have a functional reason (not just looks) to use this armor over the X-01 and X-02, despite those armors' slightly better specs.
For those playing as Minuteman General in my opinion this is an especially attractive solution, as for Neeher's original lore reasons (a skunkworks type of design/production) this armor can be crafted at a settlement as soon you find it with its blueprints, for moderate resource cost.
So a resources starved faction like the Minutemen, could really benefit from such an armor; as its easily made, dramatically superior to early game armors, competitive with late game armors and has a huge economic advantage in fleet operation.
And War never changes, it's always about logistics, As General Patton said: "Amateurs talk Tactics, Professionals talk Logistics"
This is one way the Minutemen (if this was all real) could realistically start fielding a large fleet of quality power armors and militarily be able to compete with the Brotherhood on an equal footing.
Similar arguements could be made for the Institute and it would IMO, also make a fine Institute Power Armor with its distinct modern looks over the BoS T60, with superior visibility over the "other" Institute Power Armor the "I-01", and a smaller formfactor, on top of reduced fusion core consumption
I use https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10792 to issue this armor out to minutemen troops and guards all over. Could also be used to put Coursers into it, or whichever other faction you choose, as long as they are classed as "settlers" by the game. That mod however is NOT a requirement of this patch.
In Vortex usually LOOT will automatically load it after the original file, but if you have any issues, the load order is the first thing I'd check (I had a load order issue only once, in hundreds of hours of play testing and it was easily fixed)
When in doubt, lock the patch to load after neeher's selectpowerarmor.esl
Patch has been tested on a desktop with an AMD chip and on a laptop with an Intel chip. Should be compatible with both .163 and the .984 ("NG) version of the game.
Vast majority of testing was done with .163 but some was also done with .984, (the "updated" game version)
PS: The size of the file is very small, don't let the listed "0kb" size of the file in the download section fool you. It's there. :D
PS2: I extensivly tested this file but it was mostly with new games where SE-01 location had not yet been discovered.
It might/should work with preexisting games, probably if you manufacture a new kit of armor, however no promises, as this approach is not tested.
PS3:
I have not tested this yet. (but I will) .
On the other hand if you have 50-60% reduction in FC use from this Tempered Steel patch, you really dont need those other reduction effects.
Any input or experience with those perks/Bobblehead in combination with this patch are more than welcome.
