I always despised Kid in a Fridge. If the kid was a early-model Synth kid (ala Shaun) it might be barely believable but the quest is just flat stupid.
I've always known Bethesda thinks we're idiots. I mean, forget the Save on Menu/Travel and all the rest as you can turn those off (and you better believe I do), the EXITSAVE taught me that Bethesda considers me a drooling moron.
People play bethesda games for shooting gallery and atmos, yes. Maybe one day they will have a less organic development with writers that are encouraged/enabled to design quest options that have far reaching consequences.... besides the main quest. They obviously bit off more than they could chew with the Institute. Pretty cool idea, too many implications. As someone who likes tech, seeing the institute options(was there one?) was painful. Can fix everything, gives no explanation, forces or lets a stranger blow them or others up, the end. T-T They shouldnt have even let the player join the institute imo. Just have Father get ousted and replace the supermutant scientist guy with Father. Then make the teleporting quest come later as an infiltration following the faction choices. Thus the player doesnt have power over the place and no way to use it.
If i finish it my plan is to vipe out any quest and make it more explorationg heavy while the overall setting, will talk to you "passively" simply by exploring it. PC can find the Institute via the Sewers. But the Sewers will be much more complex, similar to the ones found in Diablo 1 and 2 dungeons, where you can dig into super complex interiors ... the Institute however is hostile to the Player. Father instead is dead long time ago. Your idea with the cave makes sense.
I am curious on whether the Peabody family and Peabody House can still be used for Peabody House Settlement while using this mod to avoid That Stupid Quest.
If whatever mod is using it dont force you to talk to the NPCs or else probably. Otherwise you need to change some lines in the workshop default script in order to takeover the workshop. Nothing big of a deal though.
Hah, this mod for some reason is tagged as BOOTLEG for the mod AAF [notorious picky author]. So if you require AAF for any mod at all, it won't go past the loading screen. Makes NO sense, this is just an ESP.
Yeah. The fridge scene is stupid eventhough its some kind of "original fallout" humor. just that its horrible implemented. it would fit better as part of a random encounter rather than having it at a fixed spot.
the fact that you can sell it to a gunner is an interesting approach. if the mechanism could be enhanced it would really fit perfectly into the game. slavery was a common "issue" in fo1 and fo2 and really made the game an interesting post war scenario.
Could do something like putting a skeleton with it yet have the fridge door cover it, that way you shoot it and reveals a skeleton. a bit cliche but better then the ghoul kid in there, hey maybe have there be hat or something for the hint towards Indiana Jones, that or child skeleton if you want slight morbidness, which is a finicky thing, but hey it would have the NV feel from the Honest Hearts DLC with that, then again would there even be bones left after 200+ years in the fridge?
ah... too bad there isn't something like a rot pile or custom decal for deterioration, but hey maybe throw a hat or something as a cheeky nod to the fact Indiana shouldn't have survived that nuke. hell maybe a coil of rope as a pseudo whip.
anyway like you mods and the work you do, though i hadn't used them yet, Next gen kinda slapped me there, but i like the work put into it, making a post apocalyptic game into, well a post apocalyptic game, as tbh sometimes fallout 4 felt... not really like that.
no problem, honestly the only way to fix fallout 4 is to, ironically nuke it to the ground, as its hard to make a improvement to the game when... well the main quest-line exists, but hey that's me being me as, honestly i can't think of ways, nor have the skills to basically rewrite a entire game and mod it to hell, so to see others doing alterations on a game to make it more logically sound within it's own lore is a good thing to see.
Then again there is that mod that basically nukes the quest-line already, by SSK if i remember right. though even then its not a full solution either as, well you lack a form of story.

Hey, thats me too :) SKK is a pioneer he did more to nuking the game besides naugrim than anyone else afaik. I will see if i can totally nuke it. The entire game is a rape on itself.
The game is for adults? Yet its presented like for babys.
like immortal children, lack of evil doing and not to forget lackluster factions, hell nukaworld, a DLC that's near entire thing was about raiders were kinda... bland, not to mention you cant finish the game as a raider only character as you still need the "Big 4" factions. also i will say this, seriously no kid skeletons at all is a bit of a watery slap in the face. and don't get me started on the railroad being a bit of a failure faction, seriously, a hint towards their existence in Fo3 by that synthetic man quest, and... somehow ten years later they live in a church who's main hidden entrance has visible wires, power conduits and the password is literally railroad, not to mention you follow a literal line to their "Hidden Base"
then you got Far harbor, honestly my favorite DLC, even then some points are literally a bit badly done, like Dima going, "Wow i took a life and replaced someone with a synth... hey you should trick this guy and let me replace him with a synth as i learned my lesson" as a bit of a nutshell. poorly explained by me there, but you know what i mean, like i love fallout 4, but at the same time i loathe it.
i'm aware of the level of jokes can be made, but it will never compete with the joke that is the fallout 4 story, or the joke i was one of a few who pre-ordered fallout 76, but thank god it wasnt that big one with the "Canvas" bag and s#*! because man that was some fiasco.
Fallout 4 itself is a joke like a meme to all the fallout games before (not counting BGS games except FO3 (which technically is FO4 or 5)). Just imagine, they would have build up FO1 and 2 step by step into 3D world to toally understand the story first. And then advance and build up on their experience and create new fallout games... yet they did not fully ...
and what we get are the blatant example of watering down a product to a point it cant even keep its own lore in check in the same game, seriously that old meme of the Frown or Smile reactions feels damn true with Bethesda sometimes, but hey at least i didn't buy starfield as i wont be surprised if that's a f*#@ing thing as a way to "Choose" in a dialog box, or should i say a dialog sliver.
Yeah on the other hand you really can mod everything on their games and they allow it which is a big thumbs up and i wouldnt blame BGS as a whole. Its almost all the time wrong what you want to see. The truth will be they must survive as a company and sometimes there is no other solution as drop a game during development in order to save the engine itself. Might not sound logic to everyone. But concerning lore for FO i assume they would have get a bigger audience when at least keeping with the dark environment with elemnts of the book/movie "The Road".
that i do agree, but lets be honest they rely on modders to do the leg work with how buggy it is sometimes, but that's because they basically offload a subpar product, and modders fix the rest because we care about the game more then the profit margins Bethesda cares about.
I recommend you watch the documentary about BGS if you did not already:
For me the part about Morrowind is interesting since it was the game which actually build what we know today irc money was a problem back in the time and Morrowind turned it.
yeah ill give it a watch, as one thing is that we are always constantly learning, just look at the breakthrough for mooding on borderlands 1 from this year.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) - though to be fair the main reason that Indy's take was deemed beyond ridiculous wasn't merely the scant protection of a lead-lined fridge, but surviving being so close and blown so sky high & far in it, via the force, speed (and heat) of a nuclear blast wave. For any wanting to see, an official Paramount Youtube Channel clip of it is here.
Showing my age as many are too young to recall the TV movie The Day After (1983). Dated FX by today's standards, it was (I hear) taken as a serious film in US at the time. But on reaching British TV screens I recall many of us laughed about Dr Oakes (actor Jason Robards) surviving a twin nuclear blast by ducking down inside his Volvo car when all others on the highway perish! He later dies of rads - but he'd made the fatal mistake of leaving the car... Watch the film on Youtube here from 58:20 to 1:01:05 to see what I mean.
Story Time: So, I wanted to make a character who was basically a Raider Warlord. I went straight to Nuka World got the Operators and the Pack to take over the commonwealth. I was able to kind of glitch the game and take the Castle for the Nuka Raiders also killed Preston by disabling his essential tag via the console. I than said; "screw it", and wiped out everyone at Diamond shity and the other place (can't remember the name. (don't care.)) Unfortunately, I had to use the dam console over and over again to disable the essential tag for a moronic number of NPCs which pissed me off a little. Finally, I kill all the Gunner at whogiveashit city or whatever it's called. At that moment I saw the home the fridge Kid and though, "It sure be funny if I killed the kids' parents and then break him out of that fridge and bring him back to their rotting corpse" hilarious joke I know. Yet again Todd cucked my wannabe raider butt, because they are mark essential as well. At this point I just didn’t care anymore and just left (I did kill them though, the kid I left in the fridge I mean)

You, too.
:D :D
Yes. You can even project this on the majority of FO4 content. Almost all is the purest 5#!7
