Yep, I remember killing him at a high vantage point with a sniper rifle in DC so that all of the residents didn't kill the player character on sight. Looks like with this mod, the residents won't care.
@dstar2040 hmm you might of done the quest wrong then cause in Diamond city blues he goes outside of the walls to do a drug deal and if you kill him at the drug deal no one but his dad cares that he died outside of the city
only if you admit to it lol, then he can hire anyone to have you killed out in the open and all the guards in the city just stand there without helping you, likely because they are being payed by mister latimer to stay out of it lol, that prick meets his end as well.
but yeah this mod isn't really needed since he's not a Protected NPC. same for cooks daughter, if you outright tell her you killed her dad and don't regret it, she tries to kill you on the spot and you defend yourself, and by bethesda rules, if you only defend yourself and not initiate the attack, it's all self defense at that point lol.
paul pembrook deserves to die if he snitches on you to Latimer, it is what it is, or you can just allow cook to kill him, it's too bad in the story you can't tell his wife that cook killed him, because i can imagine she would be willing to have you kill cook as the result or anyone else who was involved so like cooks daughter, so lets say instead of her coming to the city to talk to you, you have the quest to hunt her down and find out she's in a raider gang and you take her out that way, something like this if cook is allowed to stay alive, which could potentially bring up a quest involving him finding out about it somehow to get revenge on you or finding out it was you who killed his daughter and coming after you, so many opportunities could arise or make sense given the story in how this quest works.
unfortunately Paul's wife has no money to give, the only thing she could offer because she's so poor as s#*!, is some alone time with her ; ) lol, or something could be written into her story as a prize for the killing of cooks daughter idk, maybe you could marry her, the game already has a kind of wedding ceremony mechanic lol maybe that was your intent from the beginning who knows lol it's your playthrough, just something outside of just revenge to incentivize the player somehow lol.
i'm sorry, i just love creating stories for these kinds of things in the game because bethesda did an ok job in some of these stories but they left a lot left to be desired of outcomes in some of these stories but they are good enough to get another kind of outcome that could be written in the story, or you can just allow Paul's wife to become a prostitute because she no longer has a husband to give her the life she wants and i know she's raising a child on her own at that point, bethesda wrote the good ending well enough if paul lives, but not really the bad ending too well is what i'm saying.
Like cubbyman1 said, if the player char doesn't admit to Latimer Senior that they killed his son he hires goons to kill the player. If you want to stop those guns for hire, you have to sneak or sniper kill that protected NPC to prevent DC guards and residents turning against the player. So, yeah, I played DC Blues wrong... A shame the quest gave options that caused that to happen. Damn you, Bethesa!
it's your choice to kill them or not of course, but nobody is forcing you to do it, it just opens up more playstyles besides this guy deserves to die, he thinks he's better than everyone and spits on the lower class all the time both him and the other upper class idiots.
i view this more of a message to bethesda, that they shouldn't make un-killable NPC's in general in their games and should always make a alternate quest involving in the eventual or possible death of an NPC, they do this for some NPC's in the story so why not others?
in skyrim if belithor dies for whatever reason, yasolda takes over his shop, but there are other NPC's who have no place apparently that you can't kill for some stupid reason that makes bethesda appear lazy and not willing to make some alternate quest of story direction for the player to explore.
another example in skyrim is the defeat of the empire or the stormecloaks quest, these people end up in the blue palace for some reason, they respond to the player but they exist for some reason always remaining in this room, nothing happens to them in the story because bethesda didn't plan for any resolution that far in the story so it's meaningless to keep them around at all, but for whatever reason they exist and they are all essential for whatever reason.
their games should always have an alternate option available depending on the players choices because we don't always want to play the same boring story every time, why not mix things up a bit like this and create an alternate story, maybe we are using a mod that turns every NPC into zombies of undead and these stupid essential NCP'S never die or turn, something like this makes a lot of sense to mix up the playstyle of the game.
like in some ways it feels like bethesda have a very limited imagination when making their games, having many alternate endings would make the most sense in their games, especially given the origins of their games.
TBH, yeah. Once you start censuring it's a bad day in the modding community. Will I use it? Nah. Do I mind it? Nah. ----- Just thought it was funny with Nelson Lattimer. I was ready to cap him on the spot the first time I ventured up there. ----- Just remember, these chain mods fade away over time - don't sweat it.
funny thing but i just recently did this without any mod, not sure this character was ever not killable in the first place.
but yeah anyway i told him i killed his son and he kept sending his mercenaries after me and i kept killing them and then i went to him and told him to stop and he wouldn't stop, so i went into his house while he slept and killed him lol, both him and his son deserved this fate, paul pembrook also deserves this fate little pencil neck prick.
i have never been able to get marowski to trigger that response to be honest, like how is it done, i know Latimer wants me to kill marowski, but marowski doesn't seem to have a quest to kill latimer, lol i just don't know, i suppose i can always make believe this was the story.
i have played the quest where i pay off my debt to marowski, but that one was boring and i would rather kill him, or have him send some mercs my way because i just love fighting these pricks and their goons lol, but he never sends his goons, it's always a threat but nothing comes from it.
i've thought about it but im sure some people might want to pick instead of having a ton of vulnerable NPCs in one file, but i could maybe just do certain areas/districts?
i think an all in one makes a lot of sense, it opens up the game to those zombie mods that infect every NPC, so there are no protected, so every NPC can become infected and be a zombie.
i say just go for it, the point of these mods is to allow more replay-ability at least that's what i believe, because the idea opens up other possibilities in other kinds of playthroughs.
