Well yes I get that but there are different models, I was just wondering if it spawned the B model like in the lore or if it was just plain T51 armor. Also could you do a version that leaves the T45D in? I feel like that fits but the others don't as T51 would have had a baseline.
Im not done with this project, but have so many other things to do right now, yet your feedback is noted and will be injected later.
For the T45d i think it was planned to have it available only in the Cambdrige Polymer Labs, at least that is what i see when studying the core files, vanilla base game files. So yes its possible to (re)-implement.
For T51 it should start at b since "a" is the rusty version, or the most unimmersive thing since T51 was never supposed to detoriate like that ... im not 100 % sure but from my memories i made a total override for T51b... ;)
Awesome, I look forward to more updates on this. I definitely agree that this should have been the approach to the game. Seeing what a dumpster fire 76 has been in the regard to making power armor feel as worthless as possible I'm not surprised they messed up the lore to inject the T60 into it. It's also weird cause 76 actually favors the T51B armor so I don't think the people at Bethesda are on the same page XD.
I just wanted originally to see the Brotherhood sporting the ole East Coast T45B armor as that would be the only thing that actually made any sense and have their upper ranks sporting the T51B. Somehow Bethesda just said they produced T60 so now they all have it, but they had no production capability at the end of FO3 and by the lore the Enclave are the only ones able to produce new power armors because they're the only ones with working factories left in existence besides the Pitt which can only produce ammunition and probably older antiquated weaponry like the gun runners. It would also be good to leave the raiders/gunners or any other minor factions to spawn with the rusty T45D variant.
Brilliant idea. One question though. I used console commands many times to check out the state of the BOS Armors in Vanilla game. They always seem to be at 50% health.
In my headcanon that was telling me that the BoS expediton was having major issues with PA maintennace/repair for whatever reaosn ( lack of qualified personnel, or spare parts, or or) With this mod enabled will BoS troops still be at 50% health in their armor parts? I am not sure if I have a preference one way or another, but I am curious.
A follow up, if I may. Would it be hard for a gifted modder such as youself, to restore a little oomph to the BoS, by making their spawned T51 at better health? I just checked some BoS guards at the Airport and one of their legs was invariably at 7 pts of health only. :)
IMHO I belive the BoS should be at, or near, 100% health for their T51 armor parts.
After all, T51 is not as expensive (hard?), to maintain as T60 and they are a well organized enough I'd expect them to have their armor in decent shape, especially if its "only" T51 with it's lower repair cost (and likely easier to repair as well since the steel-only repairs for the appendages ought to be easier to do from a skill perspective as well, than the multi material repairs of a T60)

PS2: I agree with your premise that the T51 should be the most widespread PA around as it was, based on lore, in wide issue prior to the war T45s likely largely relegated to National Guard units by start of the war and T60 only started to be issued to a select few units likely for NET ( New Equipment Training) I do not believe Elder Maxon's boast about the BoS being able to manufacture T60 unless the BoS experienced a real quantum jump in capabilties following their crushing defeat in the west, which I find implausible. It is, IMHO, much more likely they found a, as yet, unlooted Army depot or transhipment point of T60, for them to field them in general issue in the show.
Im not against T45 or T60. I can see T45 somewhere next to the BoS dead team, in the cellar next to the house for example. T60 could be put somewhere in the glowing sea. X01 somewhere at NukaWorld and or Institute.
Have to ask, does this affect Enclave Power Armors at all? Would be confusing to just end up seeing the highly advanced Enclave suddenly charge you wearing T-51s in their CC quest
