8 July 2024: Disable Precombines patch added! I meant to make and add this earlier, I just genuinely forgot. It's ESL-flagged, and should load after the main mod, after which you'll be able to scrap to your heart's content.
When I first installed this mod with the patch the scrapping was fine but all of a sudden, everything has reappeared and now I cant scrap anything even in a new game. Got any ideas what could be happing.
Update... So, I went into plugins and sorted this as a late loader and now it seems to work fine again.
After killing Trudy (I know Im horrible) Wolfgang and Simone turn hostile when I try to loot the safe behind the bar. Doesn't happen if I unlock the safe with the console.
Lol we all play the game in our own ways! Just to double-check the events that lead up to this:
You've begun the quest, and then chosen to help Wolfgang and eliminated Trudy and Patrick?
You've then received the message handing control of the settlement to you after handing in the quest to Wolfgang, and Wolfgang and Simone begin working at their stations?
After this, you decide to open containers in the workshop, and it makes Wolfgang and Simone hostile to you?
I have read the FAQs and tried various patterns, but I am not sure anymore, so I would like to ask a question. The quest is after everyone has reconciled and finished. Only one main file is installed. When I install it with them being in a distant location and head to the diner, I can see that the workshop can be activated and the toolbox has been added to the outside. However, Trudy is walking around instead of staying at the counter, and not only Trudy but also Patrick and the two gang members have no work assigned to them when I hover over them in workshop mode. Water and food are also shown as 0. I think the mod's description says they should be automatically assigned and getting work, is this causing some sort of conflict?
Sorry for such a late reply, I've been dealing with a lot of illness.
Unfortunately I'm not sure what could be going wrong in your save, it seems like the scripts aren't firing for you. Which would likely mean that either the BA files are missing/your mod manager isn't picking them up, or your game version is incompatible. Are you using a non-standard version of Fallout 4 (any version that isn't next-gen update or the version immediately before it)?
That means my mod isn't installed at all. Please check that the mod is definitely enabled, and please also check that your download manager did actually download the full 7z with the esp and ba files inside.
It depends what they are, and what they do! There's a reason I had to make a very major patch to bridge this mod and Better Drumlin Diner.
Whatever you have affecting the area or NPCs in your load order, you should always load this mod last, because it's a settlement mod, and must be allowed to win cell edit conflicts or it won't work.
If you're going to try and run multiple Drumlin mods at the same time, make sure you drop a hard save before installing any of them, so you can revert if your game borks badly.
This mod is just what I wanted. It seems to work great but I have one issue. Trashcan Carla and Wolfgang/Trudy are hostile to each other. Anyone else seen this?
My mod doesn't change the NPC's hostility towards each other (and definitely doesn't edit Carla), so it sounds like either you have another mod that does, or the base game glitched in some way. Or you, the player, annoyed Carla at some point. If you aggroed her, she'd also fire on any settler you have, which includes Wolfgang and Trudy.
If you go through the steps you took in your game around the Drumlin area, folk might be able to help you troubleshoot how and why Carla ended up hostile to Wolfgang and Trudy.
Hello. I have installed your mod and am very happy with its performance. But I can't remove items that interfere with construction (cars, crates and so on). I have installed Scrap Just A Bit More Stuff, but the area still cannot be cleared. Could you please tell me how to fix this? I play on Fallout 4 next gen (984).
What you're talking about are "precombines", which is when to optimise performance and integrity, the game combines and locks meshes together. It's generally considered bad form to break them for this reason, which is why I don't break them in the default mod. You can read more about the technical side here if you like.
However, your comment did remind me I meant to make an optional patch, so I've done that now! Please check out the Optional Files section, and download DDS Disable Precombines Patch. This ESL-flagged patch should be loaded after the main mod, and will disable precombines for the two settlement cells. You'll be able to scrap to your heart's content. :)
That's great! Now you can build the settlement to your liking. Thank you.
I tried to put Better Drumlin and Better Drumlin Settlement - A Compatibility Patch, but for some reason the textures are missing where the truck with vending machines. I put the mods as indicated in the instructions and put them at the bottom of the list. Perhaps it is a conflict with other mods, although I have no mods for this area. Maybe it is somehow affected by the mod for the Starlight settlement.
Better Drumlin Diner neither Drumlin Diner Settlement contain new textures or object edits to vending machines, so neither mod (nor the compatibility patch) will be what's causing your issue there.
You'll need to check your mod list and loose files for any mods that make object edits or provide loose texture files for vending machines.
I have a lot of mods, including retextures. Well, since there is a conflict, I'll have to settle for a settlement without Better Drumlin Diner. These mods work, but the missing textures are very conspicuous, it's a shame.
Is it actually the texture that is missing? Or are you describing a visibility issue (when entire meshes flicker out of existence)? If it's a previs thing, tbf the author of Better Drumlin Diner insists that you do not break precombines and/or previs in order for their mod to work correctly, all original requirements of each mod still apply.
Yes, the textures flicker (disappear and reappear) when I get close to the truck. Again, I met all the conditions for stable operation and did not put anything extra. Mods work as intended, flickering textures occur only with the truck, which stands by the road below.
After jumping in game to check the area you're talking about: I believe what you're actually experiencing is a conflict between Better Drumlin Diner and some other mod that affects nearby cells in a previs sense, as Drumlin Diner Settlement does not touch the cell with the truck and the vending machines. It's a different cell entirely. You can go comment/ask for support for Better Drumlin Diner over on that page, but as I said, the author did state explicitly on the page not to affect precombines or previs in the area. I can't really provide support for a mod I didn't make. If you're finding that Better Drumlin Diner's previs is glitching for you, then it's a conflict between that mod and something else you have installed.
I agree. I have the big quest mods (Depravity, Outcasts and Remnants) and a large amount of retextures. Apparently there is a conflict with something. Samom settlement of no problems, so I think it's easier for me to build everything myself, the more the patch that you added to the download, gives the opportunity to do it. In any case, already available mods I do not want to delete.
If you've already completed the associated quest, the workshop will automatically unlock for you next time you load your save, along with granting any special settlers if your choices made you eligible for them.
:) So yes, it does! The only caveat is that you must get the Order Up quest, that's the "immersive" part. If you don't get the quest and you just kill them, Trudy won't consider it a favour, and the unlock quest won't fire. Check in your completed quests log that you definitely got and completed Order Up to ensure you'll be able to get the workshop.
I have order up completed in my data log, and when I installed there are some new buildings but no new dialogue or npc behaviors and when activating the workshop is says that it belongs to Trudy, I didn't want to mess with it further or force the game to give ownership so I decided to wait until I can figure it out but any help would be appreciated :)
Edit: I had 1.0 of the downgraded version and see the FAQ now thanks!
@Wichtendahl, in case you weren't able to solve your issue, I've created a "rescue patch" you can find in optional files here. The pinned news comment here plus the FAQ have more information on it.
