There are other mods that change much of the Fallout 4 world to pre-war appearance, but they also have limitations. I am hoping this undertaking will someday be completed by someone with way more expertise in the Creation Kit than myself.
Vanilla assets are good for the first play through or two to get the feeling of the destruction but an option for an improved environment would be readily welcomed by those looking to escape the dreariness.
Two hundred ten years have passed since the nuclear bombs fell. The world should not still look so annihilated.

It would be so cool to have all the map of Fallout Pre-war. With the buildings, vehicles, people, trees,...Obiusly it's a LOT of work, but if people are working in DLC sized mods, why not mods that replaces the different districts of the map?

Thanks to all those that have supported this mod, I really appreciate it. Just an update, I'm still working on this mod but I've had issues with my computer, life and whatnot. The only thing I can provide right now is that I will probably have a creation kit version of the mod uploaded soon. After that then it will probably be a little while until the next update.

So, has anyone had any issues with the mod currently?

This is an effort I highly endorse. While residual radiation/radiation storms seems to be a staple for the franchise it's not too realistic (I know, it's a game and not intended to be realistic). Just look at Bikini Atoll today; it's recovered incredibly and it didn't take 200 years.

When the bombs hit hiroshima and Nagasaki only less then 1.5% of the nuclear material in the payloads actually experienced fusion, the rest was scattered into the atmosphere.

I imagine a reality where we experienced a nuclear golden age of technology that the bombs used are much much more efficient. That and the fact that many bombs were detonated and you can start to see why there might still be issues 210 years later.

I would think that even if the bombs are not more efficient in fusing their payloads the nuclear material in the form of fallout (that's what fallout is) in the upper and lower atmosphere would still be there after 210 years and could account for the rad storms, radiated water (water actually absorbs radiation and is used to insulate from it in nuclear plants). The water would need radioactive material suspended in it such as fallout from a global nuclear war.

That and the fact that pretty much the entire surface of the earth would have had radioactive fallout settling onto it and you can see why even the plants and the ground itself could be effected.

The 2 nuclear materials used in weapons today are Plutonium-290 and Uranium-238, The half life of Plutonium-290 is 24,100 years The half life of Uranium-238 which doesn't experience fusion but is used as "Tamper material" has a half life of 4.468 billion years. So It's unlikely that the radioactivity has dissipated or gone down to safe levels within 210 years.

Fallout's future is in fact not nearly as devastating and horrific as it should be, the vaults would have to be self sustaining for thousands of years not hundreds. If someone did poke their head out for a bit they would see nothing but death and a literal wasteland. If there was any life at all it would most likely be unrecognisable to us as almost all life on the planet would most certainly go extinct.

There have been an estimated 3500 nuclear detonations on our planet since we discovered nuclear energy. If your idea was right we would be screwed.

If I remember the article I read some time ago correctly, around 500.000 kilotons have been blown up around the world since the first atomic bomb tests. Included in that, were over 400 atmospheric bombs that delivered a total payload of over 500 megatons.

I suppose we're all just ghouls walking around and don't know it...

Looks eerily similar to Pripyat. Spooky. Looks nice, good work.

And I seem to recall that while the surface of bikini atol is no longer heavily contaminated. It was found that the islands vegetation contained dangerous levels of radioactive caesium. Sadly this has meant that bikini is still too unsafe for habitation.

You should have concentrated on restoring a settlement or small area at a time. This looks like post war wastes with a bit more plants. With no buildings, roads extr.... restored there is nothing to tell you it's supposed to look pre war unless told so.
