Yes,this mod uses the new BA2 Archive System.
You need a "downgrader" like this: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/81859 if you run a pre-nextgen version.
Check the requirements for this mod!!!

      From the original mod site:

Do not install this mod if you're using game version 1.10.980 or later. It's redundant.

Backported Archive2 Support System replicates the updated archive loading code
used in Fallout 4's 1.10.980 patch. This allows old game versions to
seamlessly load newer archive files without crashing. Equivalent to Skyrim's BEES.

I suggest using Simple Fallout 4 Downgrader in tandem.
      Requirements

      • F4SE (0.6.23)
      • Address Library for F4SE Plugins (1.10.163)
      • Pre-existing downgraded 1.10.163 versions of Fallout4.exe and steam_api64.dll. All other files (ESP, ESL, ESM, BA2, etc) may be safely upgraded to the
latest game version. GOG Galaxy users need Galaxy64.dll in place of
        steam_api64.dll.

      Author/Owner "Nukem"

Please countercheck your game version or you will run in issues.
It's a easy installation,no .ini "hacks" or copy and paste things in.

I just tested it, there is a small selection. 2 Barrels, 2 Grips, 2 Receivers, 2 different sights. Animations and sound are vanilla.

Overall a functional Weapon Mod, aside from the misalligned Sight & Barrel. Which had allready been mentioned by AroBot96 in the mods description

Admittedly, I am hoping the number of Modification options for the Pistol will be expanded. Since it looks good in itself.

the gun was in service since the 1960s, how is it not lore friendly?

Dogmeat ate all the P9s at HK. Also i'm not a lore lord, you'll have to forgive me if I don't remember when the split off is.

That was the P9 without S. The difference between both is that the S has a single action/double action trigger. The version without S is single action only. Production of the P9S started in 1970 in 9mm Parabellum, and 1976 for the .45 ACP version. And there was also a 7.65mm Parabellum version for the Italian market.
The thing is, even weapons like the Desert Eagle or the HK G11 are lore friendly. Desert Eagle was available in Fallout 1 and 2, and the G11 was used in Fallout 2. And so on.

Most weapons from up to late 90s would be lore friendly, but I think weapons made with polymers would be even rarer due to being manufactured in lesser numbers because of the pre-war petroleum scarcity.
