HAHA I GENUINELY thought the pictures were labelled wrong. Youre missing many of the core aspects in terms of maps to make this look decent. good luck continuing to learn how to texture!
For the normal maps, preserve the original ones. They do an incredibly important job of preserving the normals and adding detail to it. Instead, using CrazyBump, overlay your generated normal map on top of the baked normal maps.
Also, instead of overlaying details onto the diffuse, consider placing it into the gloss map instead. It makes the gun pop a lot more than on the diffuse. Specular, you should generally leave along as it's dependent on material. Gloss, however, is a free-for-all.
The UV's are fine. In fact, don't touch the UV, and at most, overlay on top of the existing normal maps. CrazyBump is great for generating normal maps from height maps (personally not a huge fan, but -eh-), but it's when you combine the two that it really shines. Hell, I do that, albeit with a fairly standard Nvidia plugin.
From the looks of the photos, you have the Normals Y channel flipped in the wrong direction. When you port it out to edit, some programs auto flip them from Y- to Y+, you need to flip them back. Almost every photo there shows it wrong.
NP, at all. Its not something that easy to tell with out alot of time spend messing with things. when I was looking for info about texture setup, I ran across alot of the first info on Pollycount forums. The spec or the _s texture for FO4 is different as well, the Spec channel is yoused in the red channel and glos is in gree channel blue is not used and just black. just some info incase you mess with that file as well, alot of people dont as its hard to get right. Mostly cuase the shaders in other programs are hard to make right to get same look as fallout
I love all of it. Except two parts which I'll give feedback on but I don't expect you to make any changes. I am just one person and many may disagree with me.
Firstly, the grip and stock look a bit flatter than Vanilla particularly around the indentations on the grip itself. This isn't a huge deal though as it will only be visible during inventory and as a world object.
Secondly, I am on the fence about your replacement shielded wire for the ridged tubes. The ridged tubes on vanilla again gave a sense of depth rather than flatness. I think given time I might grow to like this change to the shielded wire.
How would I go about combining this mod (Plasma Redone HD v1.2) with this mod (Gorgeous Glowing Plasma Weapons) - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2977/? ??? I use BLUE plasma color and glow, so I guess I can only replace only the metallic parts. Which files use those?
Thanks!
I think Blue, Red, Yellow, etc. versions of this mod would be great follow-ups or maybe even a Compatibility Patch for the Gorgeous Glowing Plasma Weapons mod!
Please do a more used version, as it feels like you've lost some detail and a character to the weapons in the process. Other than than, great retexture.
