I don't mind the vanilla behavior of hiding the equipped outfit, but it hides all of them. For example, if you give a settler 10 Tuxedos and equip one, the game hides all 10, not just the one being worn. This mod fixed that issue for me.
I know in Skyrim most people use followers framework and they kinda "solve" this issue. But for my next playtrought I just want to go without any framework, just using simple mods to set homes and have multiple followers, but the "hidden inventory" is still annoying.
works great! thanks! Just need to pay attention to what version youre dling. A friend of mine didnt pay attention and it took me him awhile to figure out why it wasnt working.
I must have given my companion shoes and forced her to wear them using the console commands. They were not showing up in her inventory. After installing this, they showed up! I could have used "inv" with console command, but it wouldn't show which shoes were equipped. So this mod is great for me!
In my opinion, the mod is absolutely required. However, it seems to deactivate the TAB button for exiting, I can only exit the trading menu by clicking on TAB)Exit. I use the non-next gen version.

Is it possible to visualize the initial weapons that companions have?
