I'm surprised someone put effort into this. I mean, once you get weapons that don't suck you won't be using the pipe weapons anymore anyway. Besides, seeing how most of the pipe weapons are either carried by raiders or super mutants, I guess it would be safe to say that they don't give a s#*! about the rust on those pipes, they just wanna build something that kills people. On top of that, who would bother polishing a pipe weapon when there's real guns out there?
I respect the effort of the modder but I like to think about why pipe weapons should be made to look better than is appropriate, considering what they are: weapons made of junk that nobody likes to use and will throw away as soon as they get their hands on a real weapon. Like the 10mm pistol for instance. I skipped the pipe weapons altogether because I had that thing and a security baton.
Anyway, as far as texture quality and looks go: Good work. Can't say anything against that.
Well, even if it's a pipe weapon, you'd want it in operable condition, and if it comes down to it most people care way better for things that they made themselves. Surely a bit of rust is all well, but when it's on important parts of a weapon like bolt, slide or even the inside of a barrel, then the function of said weapon - and thus your chances of survival - decrease drastically.
I am just a gun hobbyist, but rusty weapons are a bad thing to have, universally. So having them made out of slightly worked metal makes sense to me, personally. Besides, the wood looks a lot newer than the metal on the default weapon, and with that in mind the rust doesn't even make a lot of sense. If the weapon only got crafted a few years ago, wouldn't there still be rust-free scratxhes on the places the metal was bent/manipulated with tools?
I like this mod, it makes sense when you follow all the leads to an end. And not to mention; It looks Glorious.
Some of the weapons are still interesting to play with. Like a .50 cal pipe bolt action pistol, the hunting rifle never seems like a pistol, regardless of the modifications. Plus the full auto ones are pretty effective and efficient for some enemies.
If you consider that rusty parts tend to not operate easily, you will make sur that your gun is relatively rust free if you want to to use it to stay alive. Even the dumbest raider was a kid in that environement. The first thing they teach the kids is to take care of the "Tools" that quips them alive.
I love the new pipe revolver texture, but pipe pistol/rifle textures still look terrible. Especially the wood part, it is way too bright. For the pipe rifle, it would have been nice to have an option for brushed metal (like that metal armor upgrade, still a tiny bit rusty, but shiny.) and for the wood part a different wood texture (carved or polished wood, like the baseball bat modification has.) It would look much better in my opinion.
best pipe weapons mod so far, don't see why someone would use the rustiest pieces of pipe they could find to make a weapon out of it, and even if they did I'm sure those big ass work benches would have a grinder somewhere to buff the rust off.
much much better, maybe a version where the brown is just more ''rusty'' and darker would be nice too instead of just black as well. Main issue with the vanilla color is that its too light.
