I like how it just increases the difficulty tier instead of permanently locking the terminal. There are stakes but not THAT high since I can come back later and try again after leveling up. I see that many people won't be needing this. I'll def download tho. Personally I'd like it better if novice ones were affected too, and terminals which are the only way to progress the quest aren't locked at all (unless it's mentioned before the quest that you'll need to hack some terminals or quests have other methods to progress) But I guess that would complicate things a bit too much
yeah there isn’t a great way to consistently evaluate if it’s part of a quest or not, but there is a toggle in the MCM for it to affect novice terminals too
Vanilla F4 kinda has the player covered already when it comes to quest-required hacking; IIRC, Nick Valentine is faction-agnostic (so always available as a companion no matter what) and can hack any terminal with a random chance of success - decreasing as they get harder and with a maximum of 4 attempts though, some "save-scumming" may be required. Thus even if you lock yourself out of being able to hack a main-quest terminal, you can always go fetch Nick and have him do it. So if you were thinking about enabling the 'novice terminals' option in your own game but worried about getting completely locked out, you can rest easy and turn it on :)

...if the Bethesda hacking minigame was any good 😂
On a more serious note, it ain't for me, but I can definitely see the point, and the attraction. Good work!
