    BIG potential landmine.
If an AV catches this mod running, and apparently it does often, many mods can have the - main.ba2 moved to a "backup"  folder before they are extracted.  Now those mods are broken and the user is forced to go check every mod with a "backup" folder to verify extraction.
Malware bytes got me twice and the second time I put the whole Unpackrr folder on a whitelist.  This still left me manually extracting - main.ba2 from 20+ mods so they would function.

That said, I see the last revision had an issue occasionally unpacking.  Perhaps that still happens part-time in 0.2.1?

Edit - Other than the above I absolutely love this tool.

Hello, thanks for the feedback. AV false positive is still a thing and I am unable to find suitable solutions. I will investigate on the crash issue though, seems like the UI library is not working nicely sometimes.

EDIT: 0.3.0 is out that fixes the crashes. You still need to add the folder to AV exclusion though.

I seem to be having the same issue as the previous commenters, where hitting start brings up the "extracting files" notice and then it just continues to do absolutely nothing for as long as you let it.

output from the log is as follows:

ERROR: Traceback (most recent call last):
File "misc\BsaExtractor.py", line 33, in run
    File "misc\Utilities.py", line 139, in extract_ba2

    File "subprocess.py", line 1538, in _execute_child

Did you add the program to AV exclusion? Are you using vortex by chance?

I feel like I'm mega dumb, but I downloaded from github, extracted it and tried to start up any of programs and none of them did anything. Windows defender did pop up but I allowed the programs to run, yet nothing happens.

Have I missed some extremely obvious step of installing this?

Update: Nevermind, just downloaded the update and now when I told windows defender to let it work it actually started.

2nd Update: So, open vortex, click the 3 dot options for fallout 4, open mod folder (there's no option for mod staging folder), ok it's the data folder. So I drag and drop that folder to Unpackrr, it finds no ba2 files when I can clearly go into data folder and look at the ba2 files myself? What? What do I need to do so it can detect the ba2 files?

3rd Update: Oh my god, I found the mod staging folder. I had to click in on my mods and then open and it showed mod staging folder.

4th Update: Unpackrr tells me I'm under the BA2 file limit when I click auto, click start and it's stuck forever on extracting files. Yet my game still crashes on startup whenever I try to add more mods with BA2 files (such as Caves of the Commonwealth mod). I guess it's not BA2 problem then, but I'm so stumped on how to fix it. If anyone knows what the problem could be, please tell me.

5th Update: Here's what's written in the Unpackrr Logs:

ERROR: Traceback (most recent call last):
File "misc\BsaExtractor.py", line 33, in run
    File "misc\Utilities.py", line 139, in extract_ba2
File "subprocess.py", line 548, in run
File "subprocess.py", line 1026, in __init__
    File "subprocess.py", line 1538, in _execute_child
FileNotFoundError: [WinError 2] Det går inte att hitta filen

Forgive my ignorance but how would I go about reversing the changes made by this tool?

By default it saves a copy of ba2 extracted in the individual mod folder called "backup", you can recover files there

Can you check the debug output and see if there is any indication of error? You can turn that on in the advanced settings.

After much testing to see why the crash keeps happening. I have found a temporary solution, I think. At least until the mod author has more free time lmao. When you click "Start", instantly minimize your Unpackrr window and don't open it until you think it's done. I tested it with the health checker but not the extractor. It worked for me.

Thank you for the feedback, that somewhat corroborates my suspicion that some animation is causing the issue. As beautiful as the UI framework is I might have to ditch it in the rewrite :(

EDIT: 0.3.0 is out that fixes the crashes.

Well it looked like it extracted the ba2 files in vortex mod staging folder. I went to vortex and it asked me to save or revert the changes (save means it'll delete files) so I made a backup of the mod staging folder and saved.

Game was working fine. I installed few more mods then crash before seeing the main menu. Disabled those mods and same crash. I unpacked my backup of the mod staging folder and still crashed. I took every single ba2 file from the backup folders and placed them back where they should be and still crashed.

So guess my game is broken now since the mods did work and reverting my changes did nothing.

In this case the crash should be unrelated to the tool, since you have restored the backup

Everytime I try to run the ba2 checkup tool, it immediately crashes. Do you know why that could be happening?

Hi, I'm not sure if you are notified of this on upload (as I have zero experience of it myself) but the latest update has been quarantined. Is there a way the end user (myself; others) would circumvent this or is this required to be done by yourself/Nexus?

while there's nothing to do here on the nexus until the issue is resolved, you can download the latest release from the author's github, linked in the description
