Hi. I have downloaded the required mods to use the downgrade, but any time I try to start it up through the F4SE (vrs 0.6.23) It won't even the start up menu. I Would like to ask what I could do by listing a few questions.
1. The loose files prompt on the vortex. when I click on it and ask to "fix files" do I let it or leave it alone? 2. What exactly are the names of these "executables" and where are they located? 3. Is the deletion of Steam API DLL (steam_api64.dll) nessesary? for context: I couldnot load the launcher as a pop up says it requires the file to function. 4. is the file name of the downgrade buckup "Fallout4Launcher_downgradeBackup" or "Steam_api64_downgradeBackup?"
5. A coment sugesting any files with "cc" infrount of the name file should be deleted if the game crashes on boot up. are these the files from my previous question? or are they difrent and/or don't need to be delt with?
6. I had attempted to download the HRTP (High Resolution Texture Pack) before instaling this and the other mods, but paused the download after it had "made space" on my hard drive. would I need to finish downloading the DLC at that point? or is that not nessesary.
If none of these questions are aplicable to my curent situation, please provide a few possible salutions for my situation. Thank you, and have a great day.
2. & 3. I have the same questions! Is deleting "the new executables" and steam dll a required step?
As for the other ones, I do have answers:
1. Yes, click it. That enables archive invalidation, which is essential when modding Fallout or Skyrim. No drawbacks.
5. CC = Creation Club. I'm not clear on if they need to be deleted either, but I'm following the Midnight ride modding guide for Fo4 and it'll probably tell us what to do about them. https://themidnightride.moddinglinked.com/index.html
6. The HRTP DLC is unnecessary, you will never need it. It's bloated compared to available mods. This is also covered in the midnight ride guide.
Seriously, you will facepalm you didn't read the midnight ride guide sooner. Go read it. Click "Full guide" for, well, a full guide. If you choose that, read EVERYTHING there and make sure you understand why you're doing each step before losing anything you don't want to. Good luck 👍🏻
I cant play fo4 after installing even when i install the right version of f4se for the downgrade it still give me the same error like i never downgraded.
I'm having the problem with menu buttons not appearing, I've tried multiple different methods of enabling archive invalidation manually (Bethini, editing ini myself, etc) nothing has worked, I've also tried disabling nearly every mod except for the requirements and it made no difference so I'm not experiencing any conflicts either.
I did a Mod by Mod search for what could possibly be doing this exact problem as I have about 800+ mods total separated into 45 catagories. Turning off each catagory then narrowing it down more until it turned out to be I had the NG version of MCM Booster running. As soon as that mod was disabled the menu buttons reappeared for me.
The weirdest part was the day before when I was having trouble with the game not loading past New Game the Menu was completely visible (turn off the plugins for mods that effect legendary weapons, turn them back on after v111 fyi).
i followed the video and clicked on the exe and: "Invalid executable with hash: D0BDA5F141DD681B47438A55CA9042E635EDF66E Aborted." appears what could be the problem?
For anyone who is getting black screen and crashes at startup. Try making sure that the ini in your MO2 or whatever mod manager you are using is pointing towards the ones generated by Steam rather than your own custom ones. I had a lot of mods installed and had a custom Fallout.ini and FalloutPreferences.ini set to my profile in MO2 and that caused crashes. Also make sure that you add archive invalidation for your new inis.
Anyone who cannot run the downgraded version properly, please check if you have the xSE PluginPreloader installed (version 2.5.1, required by buffout mod). If so, open your gamefolder and open "xSE PluginPreloader.xml", change the <LoadMethod Name="ImportAddressHook"> to <LoadMethod Name="OnThreadAttach">
This doesn't work. I've tried literally everything, I am using a clean install folder that isn't in my program files folder. I have tried with creation club content, I have tried without creation club content. The downgrader just makes my .exe file unable to start correctly. I have tried with the BASS mod, I'm using the right F4SE, and I have installed the address library too.
"the only cause of crashing is already covered in the description." hmmmmm.

Sharing crash logs is pointless and will be ignored, the only cause of crashing is already covered in the description.
