I have a question, so I've just completed the 'Blind Betrayal' quest and I left Danse to speak with Elder Maxson. When I came back to Danse he's now in his full power armour again, how do I remove it?
He be just fine as I did test that... ;) He is Superman's younger brother, after all. You see that at the screenshot as he is wearing glasses like Clark Kent. If you worry, put him into a Power Armor or let him be as he is without any mods. I do not use Power Armor as for me, they are useless and I was tired of getting in and out and we do fine without then really.
Pushing the button is optional. If you want most out of that fight, just keep the synths coming and you will have loads of loot as they stop spawning after a while. I do guess they are 30 or so, max. I did that yesterday by the way with a new play trough.
Only reason I asked is changes that ignore the storyline tend to come back in our faces at some point. Personally, I'd have a hard time understanding how any Paladin wasn't in Power Armor unless the story dictated - i.e. Paladin Brandis. So when I do flip the switch (because like stripping him of his armor is your option - flipping the switch is mine) - he should be fried to a crisp - right? Just saying.
Don't get me wrong, this would make perfect sense once he was ostracised from the BoS. To strip him of his PA without any storyline - and he's still holding the rank - well it's just odd at best.
I guess none really as I did not knew about it. I did a lot of research before I made my own and I guess the title for that mod could have been made a bit different... ;) I did not include GTFO in my search, and that is maybe why I did not find it. :D
I did test different armors for him and the body did clip through most of them. In my previous play trough, I did gave him Nano armor and a nano suit, which did work great. Try and give him different armors and see your self. :) It will most likely look awful. There are some more npc with that huge body. Normal npc like settlers, can wear all armors and clothes but Danse cannot, well he can, but he will look like the hulk, like everything is trashed more or less.
By the way, I do think my mod may have a benefit and that it is an esl, and will not take up an unnecessary esp slot as many mods do that when they really not need to do it. Any mod I DL myself, I check the number of records and if they are fewer than 3000 I load it in CK, renumber them and save them as a light esp, which is an esl that I rename to esp, in case I want it low in the load order, otherwise if it is a simple cloth mod, I remake them to an esl before I load them into my save game. If we save the game with an esp, and later remake it to a pure esl, then we might end up with a corrupt save game. So is the GTFO mod an esl or light esp?
I really have a much better answer now as I took a peek at that GTFO mod.
That mod is much more complex than mine is as it also gives you the opportunity to force him out of a power armor if he use another one. I do not think it is a light plugin, which it should be really, so it will steal a esp spot from your mod list. It is scripted with Papyrus which mine is not.
What I did was to go in Paladin Danse's object or rather form as it is called in CK, and removed the power armor as it was hard set there as the power armor has its own slot in any NPC and that is why it is so hard to remove it in game but not impossible, so it sure differ a lot from ordinary clothes and armor. A Lot? Well it is different. You can look your self at him in CK really.
I think power armors are ugly and unnecessary in game so therefor I put so much work into getting rid of it. I do think it did fit perfect in the TV-series as Maximus would not have survived the fight against the goal without it, so if this was real life, then the differences between having a power armor or not, would be the difference between life and death but Bethesda games or any RPG does not work like real life as our chars can take loads of bullets and beating but is it realistic? Nope, not really but I like it anyway and I liked playing all RPG games from Bethesda since 1997 as I started with Daggerfall back then on a Pentium 1. ;) I did replay Daggerfall with the Unity engine as well by the way 2020 and that was fun and nostalgic for sure and it now looks amassing and it feels like playing all new games, if we compare it to the original that is. ;) I also made my first mod 2004.
