Hey, I really enjoy this mod, and I appreciate it increases the materials needed to repair/upgrade the T-51, so it is not overpowered. One change I would suggest is increasing the health or possibly the radiation resistance of the X-01 to still give a reason to use it over the T-51 at higher levels, as I feel the reduced health and the added materials needed to repair the X-01 makes it not seem worth using with it only minor advantages. But this can just be changed in F04 Edit, so it's not a big deal, but just a suggestion.
T-60 getting so heavily featured is my biggest complaint about the show.
But my headcanon currently is that T-51 fixed the design flaw in the T-45 and that T-60 re-introduced it due to negligence. It'd be pretty sweet if someone showed up in T-51 in the show and the ghoul was actually a bit panicked about it because he can't exploit any weaknesses and they need actual Anti-tank weaponry to bring him down.
Who knows, most of the F76 armors I feel like fall in the category of armors we will never see in the fallout universe again, outside things like creation club mods in future games. Like The Fo3 Enclave Armor/Hellfire Armor.
The only armor I'd like to see back is something like the excavator. I really enjoyed the more practical industrial power armor archetype, and it even has a cool passive for mining. Maybe a construction power armor that reduces building costs in settlement would be cool for Fallout 5. The Hellcat was really cool looking but didn't really have a place in the progression. If it were up to me, hellcat armor would have been the paratrooper version of either T-45 or T-60, although I think it would require some changes to make it more in line with previous models.
The one thing about fallout 76 power armor that I hate is having Hellfire be something from pre-war/early post-war prototypes. It's pretty clear that the X-01 was a prototype for APA, but X-02 and APA Mk II are assumed to be basically the same thing, so having the Hellfire Power Armor come Before APA Mk. II (or potentially before APA Mk. I) and yet be a superior power armor irked me.
I mean in Fallout 3 Hellfire was inferior to Fallout 2 APA by a lot when you compare it to T-51b.
Its a confusing mess in every game, because Todd Howard has gone on the record to say the Fo3 Enclave Armor is APA Mark 2, just retconned to have a different visual than OG APA. (On paper thats fine, not much point having 2 armors look identical.) But then APA Mk2 in Fallout 3 is weaker than T-51, despite being the strongest armor in Fallout 2. I've seen some people theorize though that the enclave lost access to materials and manufacturing when they got pushed out of the west coast, so it could be a materials/manufacturing issue and not that APA has been retconned to be worse than T-51. (Real world equivalent would be tanks and this is 100% a phenomenon. During WW2 Russian T-34's didn't always live up to their legendary reputation due to rushed and improper manufacturing, resulting in sub-par armor that would crack or flake when struck, where T-34 models produced during the cold war lack these flaws and are much closer to how we were made to perceive them. Same thing happened with German tanks as the war raged on, the legendary armor of King Tiger's wasn't actually all it was cracked up to be as many were pushed out the door without proper heat treating or using sub-par steel.)
Admittedly, this is also probably more for gameplay since you cant have standard enemies wearing the strongest armor in the game. (It was kind of a flaw in Fallout 2, given that its way easier to get APA than it is to get your hands on standard T-51b)
So if we assume APA is superior to T-51, that means Hellfire was also inferior and thus presumably mothballed at some point, then brought back out when the Enclave was pushed to the east coast. When they couldn't make APAmk2 to the proper specs anymore and needed something to make up the difference and Hellfire was presumably being produced on the east coast, meaning they had access to its original manufacturing specs/materials.
That's actually interesting. Fo3 Enclave Armor and Hellfire are kinda nerfed compared to APA mk.1 in Fallout 2, so there being manufacturing issues makes sense and fits logistically. In fallout 3 even with this problem, Hellfire is equal to T-51b, which makes me wonder what sort of protection it would provide at maximum manufacturing capacity in a lore friendly way. My understanding is that lore-wise, it goes X-01 > T-51b > APA Mk.1 > APA Mk.2 > Hellfire, but I could be wrong. In Fallout 4 each is an incremental improvement which from my understanding is accurate to real military equipment.
I really wonder what APA Mk.1 would look like in the Fallout 4/76 style.
Well My theory is that Hellfire wasn't suffering from those issues (Since we see it in Appalachia, it was probably being developed/manufactured on the east coast, so they could have had access to the exact manufacturing specs. Its also assumed to be made of different materials than APA, using materials from the Duraframe Eyebot Project that we learn in F:NV from ED-E it was shelved in favor of Hellfire Armor.)
APA was the better armor, so resources went into developing APA and Hellfire got shelved. Then when they lost the facilities/resources needed to create APA in its full glory, they restarted the Hellfire project using the Duraframe materials to enhance it and at least give them something on-par with T-51 as their war with the BoS escelated. (Hence why canonically it doesn't get completed for well over 200 years.)
I believe it is cannon that Duraframe is not a material, but a model of robot. I think J. Sawyer said something along those lines. And I think if they wanted armor on par with T-51 then they'd produce T-51. Maybe they lost the schematics or the manufacturing techniques are harder or Maybe Hellfire and Mk. II are just easier to produce I don't really know.
I feel like the T-60 power armor should have been a power armor that came out shortly after T-51b because it was designed by a committee. I imagine it being like a Pentagon Wars situation all the branches of the US military were trying to agree on a standard power armor that was effective but more affordable but each was trying to get it to do things they wanted and it just ended up being a bulky, cumbersome, heavy power armor made of cheaper materials and composites yet reminiscent of the older T-45 look but no were near as good as T-51b only advantage was it was cheaper and better that T-45.
Maybe some high-ranking army officers and officials like General Constantine or something with the right connections funneled more resources toward the T-51b and helped push for it's completion leading to fewer resources for the joint T60 program.
The Fallout show also brought up that the T-45 has a design flaw that carried over into T-60, a flaw the Chinese were very much able to exploit.
Given T-51 is credited with winning the battle for anchorage, it could be that generals like Constantine did push to have it developed to fix that flaw as the T-45 was a death trap against chinese grenade launchers.
But it would also track that West Tek and the US Govt, not wanting to look foolish, covered up that the T-45 had the flaw at all, which would lead to it being reintroduced later into the T-60 by cluelessly adapting the T-45, unaware of the flaw. (The guy Cooper confronts didn't seem embarrassed when the T-45 was mentioned until after he pointed out it had that flaw, and the BoS were clearly unaware of the flaw despite the fact they would have technical documents on the armor)
Sounds like a conflict on your end, or you're doing the quest wrong. I've completed the quest twice with no issue and I didn't touch anything to do with the quest itself, I only altered the levellist that determines what reward you receive.
Love the mod. I really appreciate it!! The T-51 is my favorite model by far.
But much to my sadness your mod isn't compatible with the Power Armor Decals added by Armor and Weapon Keywords Community Resource (AWKCR) and Armorsmith Extended (maybe because your mod increases the durability of most power armor pieces) When I install your mod, the decals just vanish from the menu and even NPCs lose their decals, like the BoS guys.
Just wanted to point it out, It might be of interest to you. Anyways, great mod! Loved the lore friendly aspect of it. Cheers!
Yeah But sadly (as far as I know) there are no other mods that add the material / paint separation with the addition of chest decals and arm ranks for the Brotherhood
And honestly the decals are a very cool extra (for me, at least)
I forgot to edit this but yes, I fixed the issue, sorry if my comment seemed snarky or something, but yeah. On an unrelated one: I even my own version of it, to make PA feel threatening, new health values:

Every time I correctly input the right combo, the power armor does not appear and the mission can't progress unless the break out option is selected.
