The custom flare gun has a faster reload speed than its counterpart, which makes the reload sound play a bit out of sync; just a tad. I imagine using the faster reload speed perk makes it more noticeable, though. Thank God for FO4Edit.

***NOTE*** it helps a lot to do the quest in order. Reading the note in the mail box first will throw you off. Modder thank you so much for this mod.

Honestly I don't understand why you have to be so secretive about where tf the base is. "the destroyed house in malden in a rubble pile next to gullet sinkhole" sir there are three destroyed house RIGHT NEXT TO IT WHICH ONE DO YOU MEAN?????

Very good point that eluded me, though there is a picture of the rubble pile in the mod description.

I'm going to update the description with more complete instructions

I can’t find the key, it’s supposed to be behind the lovked door connected to the terminal, correct?

To avoid having a spoiler in these comments, check the spoiler drop downs in the description page, it should give you an idea where to find the key.

I know it’s in the hospital, but I’ve searched everywhere and I can’t find it. I checked the terminal locked door, the locked room above the suicider super mutant that had the magazine perk, everywhere. But I can’t find the key.

      So you gotta
      Spoiler:
      Show
Start the quest, Roadside Repository, by interacting with hatch door. Then you gotta pick up and read the Medford Memorial Check in the mailbox at the front of the house. That will point you towards Medford Memorial Hospital, which is where you can find the key. Read the check again for a clue as to what room in the hospital might be a good place to look

You mods are great, keep them coming. I use this mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/29306) and unfortunately it is incompatible with the unique flare in your mod. The flare works but the receiver is invisible. I tried making the edits from the mod to your flare and loading a save before installing your mod but I couldn't make it work.

Thanks for the kind words. And yeah, the flare pistol added in this mod is a unique form, but it still uses the flare gun keywords. So any mods that alter the original flare gun might have strange effects on this one.

I managed to make it work! Somehow I failed to notice the keyword and attach point the other mod has. Just to be sure the gun is working as intended, it is supposed to do direct damage and a bit of dot fire damage, right? For some reason before playing by looking at the screenshots I thought it would deal area damage in the radius of the flare light.

So the flare projectile does direct damage, but the flare doesn't detonate. The flare itself, say if you shoot it at the ground, will damage nearby enemies once it detonates. Glad to see you got it working!

As a thought, any chance to have the flare gun have a % chance to cause enemies to run in fear (maybe from being on fire, or w/e), akin to the FNV Old World Blues Lonesome Road flare gun? (Brain fart moment, forgot where the Flare Gun was from in FNV)

That's a great idea! I might look into that

Don't much care for player home mods, but that flare gun is too cool to pass.

    Does this break precombines?

No, Precombines should not be affected. All changes to the commonwealth world space have been additive, not transformative (nothing moved, rotated or deleted, same as my other mods)

However if you do have problems, please let me know. I'm still trying to figure out how to best handle Precombines with my mods, which is why the bulk of work I do is based around interiors, not exteriors.
