Looks like the third person animations have the same issue as so many other mods. At least in Power Armor. The one where you walk really slowly and can't backpedal.
Confirmed, just tested it myself. It would also be really cool to get a version of this mod that is just the animation fixes in a file that is compatible with the base unoffical wattz update.
Why differentiate with the ammo type for the Institute? All automatics should use electron charge packs as this is specifically used for automatic lasers (and tesla weapons) if you are following lore usage. Honestly surprised there hasn't been a revamp yet for vanilla weapons to do this, I started making one but have held off finishing it due to other things. In the least can we get a side patch that makes Institute weapons follow the same standard?
The idea behind the Institute using regular Microfusion Cells for automatic lasers is because from a lore perspective they are very utilitarian in their design and philosophy. My idea was, for them, it wouldn't be worth adopting and mass-producing a new weapon if they couldn't maintain a singular ammo type, that being Microfusion Cells. That's what the Prototype Institute Wattz rifle is, a prototype Wattz laser utilizing an overhauled internal mechanism that they created specifically for their own needs.
As for making the normal automatic lasers use ECP, you should check out my other mod, LPPO. However, that same type of utilitarianism in the Institute's weapon design philosophy is still present for Institute lasers in that mod.

Reverting your edits to the weapon mod fixed it completely (after a quick run to the weapon mod bench as the data had not updated until doing that)
