I did even go all out and edit his holotape when he is in the institute getting his cybernetics. So that is one thing you can prove of him getting absolutely borged!

Since Nicky is a unique NPC with his own body type. My professional opinion would be to download a mod called "Human Nick Valentine" my personal favorite I still use is: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/40528
You will be able to equip any regular human armor to him. Since the Kellog Suit is a full body suit. It won't really matter what Nick looks like, as long as you convert him to a human NPC body type. Hope this helps! You can give the armor to Nick after you kill Kellog.
Just a some try outs with ARMO section in FO4Edit - adding for all 5 ARMO records in "Additional races" sections "MODL - race" original Nick Valentine race (ID 002261A4, SynthGen2RaceValentine) and now he can wear that Kellog damned suit by himself without any other mod (in addition of a small Kellogs brain part).
I'll just throw my hat in now - +1 to a Depravity patch. Easy Smasher companion. I can understand Start Me Up, especially if dialogue has been reworked.
Does this change Kellogg's appearance in the intro sequence as well? From what I recall I think that Kellogg has a different reference, which a mod like CROSS_InstituteExpeditionarySuit also edits the record of (in appearance only due to the content being equipped to their inventory)?
Would there be any consideration for an alternate download that simply uses the original mod's armor pieces to change Kellogg's inventory instead of a armor replacer i.e. if you wanted to use Kellogg's outfit for other NPCs or companions, but still retain Kellogg-Smasher's new look and voice?
Yep!! Already thought of that, If you use Expeditionary Suit just load Adam Kellog Smasher AFTER that Esp to override it. If that for some reason doesn't work I'll even make an expeditionarySuit patch.
Kellog Smasher is also Intro changed as well. He will menacingly call you the Backup while complaining how stupid your spouse was to resist getting shot.
As for your last question, the armor is technically an equipable item once you loot it off his corpse. I am working to make it a un-usable item so you can't actually pick it off his body. (To retain immersion because unfortunately Kellog turns into his normal naked self if you do). Perhaps I could add a container Inside The Institute Robotics for Kellogs Suit. That way if you wanted to borg yourself out AFTER you meet the Institute you have an immersive reason to look like it.

I think I'll make it an armor set you can find once you get inside the institute. It will be like if you entered the robotics division and found his experimental suit. Have some immersion in some way
Kellogg's health is way too high, 20k health is just ridiculous, his health value needs to be at a reasonable range in my opinion. Hopefully this gets addressed in an update in the near future.

The patch for Start Me Up, is this for the outdated version (Start Me Up) or the latest version (Start Me Up Redux)? Or does it work for both?

Depravity might be choppy but honestly I did what I could because the mod is choppy in itself. Still Adam Kellog Smasher companion framework!
This was made in a modded damage playthrough so all peoples playthroughs will be different
Kellog is what the institute were trying to make before they perfectly made the Gen 3 synth
