This gun is beautiful. Unfortunately, I'm having enormous problems getting many mods to work in my game since this Next Gen update. I spend two hours fixing the game to play like 30 minutes. I was so excited after seeing Al Chestbreach use this gun. Hopefully, this mod will come to XBox. At least that one is working fairly well with the mods as far as the Next Gen update. I agree with others that the Institute vanilla guns were kind of disappointing.
As much as people rag on this game, the potential was always there for top tier aesthetics; the art style is very good. Bethesda lacked the ability to put the weapons together coherently though and lost grounding with reality, unless left-handedness was a pre-war epidemic.
New cool looking energy weapons like this should've been in the game, rather than the few, ugly and lame @ss vanilla alternatives. And those who take the npc health scaling, other non logical Bethesda "balanced "features" , Scourge, Unleveled World etc into account when making weapon mods, deserves every possible endorsment and kudos.
I think the problem with this, is that it looks super cool but it honestly looks more like a ballistic weapon with a laser muzzle, a white and red color scheme can go a long way here
Why is it so outrageous to put the fusion cell in a casing (if you check the model for the magazine, it is exactly this) and fit it on the bottom of the weapon, where reloading would be the most ergonomic? There is a reason top-down and side loaded magazines died out. Does it make more sense to expose extremely high energy and fragile batteries to the elements?
I am aware of how pedantic it sounds to bring in realism when discussing a laser weapon's function, but if you forego that then only aesthetics matter.
Also, it does look like a ballistic weapon- that is intentional. And that is because ballistic weapons look much better than the oversized white rectangles the graphics team at bethesda spent months prototyping and implementing.
I don't think it looking like a ballistic weapon really is a problem, the issue for me is it just doesn't look like an institute weapon. Some red, white and black polymer parts would sell the illusion better methinks.
The last thing this beauty needs is weird bright colors. You can add visual identity to a weapon in better ways than following the vanilla game's ridiculous color schemes.
It doesn't look Institute. Institute weapons are distinctive through their sleek (albeit rather bulky) and finished look, and consistent colour scheme. To me, this shares none of these.
Also, users like to know what sort of attachments and upgrades are available.
I don't disagree with you, but it is supposed to mesh the world of the pre-war and the institute together as i mentioned in its description. I only have so many tools as a nifbasher, so the metal finish is the closest i could get to institute. Thanks for the feedback.
The shape looks bold and stands out in a way that I can appreciate. Personally, I think a skin more like this would be more consistent with Institute designs (but maybe with more red instead of blue).
Edit: I posted this before I saw your reply, author. You did nice either way.
OP have kinda nice idea behind this but it's look more gun that gunners should try to make, that metallic look just don't really fit institute art style (no offense just my personal opinion/taste. And i don't like vanilla style institute weapon style either) If i would make mod list trying to fit orginal art style of fallout 4 this would then be really nice choice for raiders and gunners.
Not sure I would go with institute, but I do like your work on this. If you want a minor suggestion, I made a classic, boxy MFC for just this purpose. It's an open resource if you want it. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/70572
