If you didn't read the description and jumped to the comments:
This bug happens when a female makeup set doesn't include a Lipstick in the records or logs or however you want to think of it. This happens with presets too. When you have npcs or look presets that don't have a lipstick record from (vanilla) then they will spawn as the "none" color, and since the none color has the RGB values all set to 0 with the alpha value of 1, the resulting color is black.
Any other fix seemed to not get to the core of this bug. This fix FIXES that core, so other patch mods that have this same effect should no longer be needed UNLESS THEY CHANGE ADDITIONAL THINGS (Still endorse them though)
Additionally: I changed the "Lip color" under the blemish options to have a "none" color by default (was Pale color before and added itself to presets) This is also a fix, as there was no "none" color option for the game to fall back on, this now allows that.
I also changed the default Brow to "average" this fixes any npcs replacers and look presets that didn't choose a brow option to look better. The default option was "Thin rounded" as the default fallback option. This cause most npcs and presets to look undesirable if no brow option is defined.
I've never had a mod of mine make it to the Hot Mods section before! Thank you for all the support! Even though I know most of you just hit download lol
Hi, would it be possible to update the mod to also apply the Lip color changes to Male Presets too if possible ? Edit: Nvm, I just copy pasted the changes for the female Lip Color into the Male One in FO4Edit and it worked.
Through trail and error I finally got this to work with my setup. I downloaded the first file and only enabled the BlackLipstickFix.esp and the BlackLipstickFix_LMCC.esp's and boom there it is. Drove me crazy because I would lose my custom makeups, eyes, hair etc. Thanks for making this!
Wow you managed to find a way to fix this ancient bug! How impressive. I tried to use it though and I noticed something strange, using the main file and the pip replacer file my player character and a few of my companions received this weird vidaligo esque outline around their lips, almost like they were missing pigment around their mouths.
I use it my load order: tac tablet, lmcc, looks menu, and first person item view. Could you suggest which of the 8 plug-ins would work? Also would this plug in need to be loaded DEAD last (even after prp and complex sorter patches) or should it be above my m8r patches near the bottom?
lmcc goes after looks menu. You will need to use the BlackLipStickFix - Combined FPVI version.
Dead last is exaggerated, but its pretty much after all you looks, npc, companion, and any other mod that could change the human race record. Safe to be after everything as it only changes that one record.
just so I can understand. I need ONLY the combined fpvi version and not the main plug in? Because the issue still persisted even with the plug in near the bottom (below my patches).
Only the BlackLipStickFix - Combined FPVI version should be active from what you say you have. If the issue still isn't resolved even with it at the very bottom. Then there is another mod that is either overwriting my changes or some sort of script is reverting it.
First try only having the BlackLipStickFix - Combined FPVI version plugin active at the very bottom of your load order.
Have the same issue, only LMCC in my load order so Looks Menu - LMCC - blacklipstickfix_lmcc_only at the very end of my load order, yet the lip looks so pale and washed out. Want to ask the earlier poster if he managed to fix it?
As for me its like the bottom lip of the lipstick is pale in colour, like washed out. Going into the looks menu and resetting the lipsticks does not fix it...
Edit: Almost maxing out the alpha value for the lipsticks fixes it... odd
That could be due to your character preset. The only issue I've had myself after this fix was the lip blemish looking weird but toggling that one and off again fixed it.
Weird, I'll try to investigate, but not a whole lot to go off. If you can provide all information and screenshots and open a bug for this I can look into it
Im curious based on my understanding with xedit what happened in the screenshot you posted was while the black was untouched it is overwritten/blank on your fix hence it would no longer be available in game. Am i missing something?
You should add a bugfix i never uploaded that renames the first option of the cheeks as smooth instead of weathered as intended, not even the unofficial patch renamed that.
Now I understand. I've learned how to make fomods, so I could make an update to this with a "optimal defaults" version that goes threw and sets the best options as the fallback.

I don't mind making them at all. I just find it easier to keep track of them as "tickets"
Same applies if mods need investigating.
Thank you for the support!

If you toggle off the lipstick or chose it without color the NONE will appear
Here hope the picture explains a bit better what I mean.
