Question - is there any technical reason to prevent the living space in this from functioning? There are a handful of mixed-use plots out there (like I've seen a farming plot with a residential house) and plots where you can snap completely different interior plots into them.
You're absolutely right, there is no technical reason* I couldn't make this a mixed use plot. There's an animation marker for people to "work" by laying on the bed, but no actual sleep function.
