I've been on the hunt for a mod like this so thank you.
The Toolboxes in Fallout 4 suited the aesthetic in the beginning but after several playthroughs it just needed a small facelift (or a small change) and after installing multiple Fallout 3 inspired mods for Fallout 4, my game is slowly bringing back the nostalgia of Fallout 3. Tech and equipment used by people 10+ years after the bombs fall it feels like old world relics.
Fallout 3/NV had just such better item designs- even something as simple as a toolbox looks retro-futuristic and fits into the industrial look. Fallout 4 gave it that gaudy red color and basically made it look like a fischer price toy.
FO4's toolbox is actually contemporary to 1950s/60s modernistic style - whereas the classic shaped FO3 one is from late 1920s/30s. Though I think FO3 did a lot of things better than FO4 (eg, power armour) I prefer FO4's toolbox because it's also easier to spot. And I went so far as to find mods of FO4 style toolboxes (& first aid containers) to retro-fit into FO3. But hey, more choice like this mod for FO4 is always good.
