this comment section is pre-update. i think i made MeleeBlock_Root player only and other humans were still blocking.
checked out the update... might be some redundant edits. NPCs only use 3rd person animations and to use those, the animation first goes through the Root. seems like one just gotta add getisid Player to the Root. to stop the bash animations without affecting the Races, i think changing the Combat Style to all offence and making bash n stuff zero might work(i like to increase their dodge/evade and make the animation conditions: iscombattarget Player)... that or editing the hkx files.
i hate this games vanilla melee, lol, like they did skyrim so much better when it came to melee combat, it's so weird thinking about it because skyrim is an old ass game made by the same people, so what the hell right? like why can't you pick up any piece of scrap on the ground and use it in your left hand as a makeshift shield and while also using your right hand with whatever object the game has to offer?
using mods like shield frame work are good and all, but they suffer from only holding the shield without any control of your right hand, it would be great if we could get both hands working in this game, ya know one hand washes the other, we cant even do that lol.
like i was thinking i could pick up any object and use it as a shield and in my right hand i could us any melee object to any pistole without a scope and use it to raise my shield and also shoot the enemy at the same time, but apparently bethesda hard coded that ability out of this title for some odd reason, rant over lol.
they pulled the same s#*! mechanics for starfield as well, ok, now the rant is over.
You can be happy that there is modding you can always add whatever you want to the game yourself (if you can do it yourself or the person you commissioned can do it)
this mod works using race chance based attacks and adding player-only conditions to global melee animations. it probably wont cause crashes but it might soft lock when there is a condition stopping an animation in a paired animation. what is mod? tried searched takedowns and got nothing
oh, my bad, i typed the wrong name of the mod, sorry it's called " Human Grab Attacks" but now that i think of it, i'm also asking how it will run with "Knockout Framework " as well.
i dont see any overriding animations or parents to blocked animations. should be fine if knockout framework is compatible(i dont know how to check dll files).
IMO it's already balanced out by the fact that you're getting shot a lot more than you would if you were using a gun, the last thing it needs is nullifying the tradeoff entirely by just not letting you hit the things you're putting yourself at a greater risk to hit
should work well with vafs replacement, the optional mod on that dodging mod's page that replaces enemy taunts with rolls, and the one that makes your blocking require stamina. changes the tedious trades to a slugfest. now all i need after that is a mod for lunging power attacks from enemies to be done without so much tracking so i can side-step it. actual skilful melee combat! :V
