A quick bit of historical context here.

Before PRP 69 was generated, ossumpossum (the mod dev that did the WestonLOD fix among others, I think, I'd have to look for the author name) had contributed a mesh restoration, which added those "tentacles" which are actually parts of the shrub's branches. In Branch 69, the material file associated with the new mesh parts had also been in use with other tree meshes.

This was changed in Branch 74 to allow what this mod does and hide them with a simple material file change for those that don't like them.

Oddly enough, the shrubs show up fine on my end, but I haven't really given the updated build that big of a look.

Thanks for the added context and the update allowing for this. I'm not sure what could be happening for myself and other users for it to still be showing up especially outside of Desperados, but my modlist is pretty ridiculously massive so idk.

Thanks, these "Tentacles" were a pain in the *** since PRP 69. i dont have mojave or desperados, but these ugly things were everywhere in the Commonwealth, until now ...

Nope, the mesh used in 69 is also used as part of certain tree meshes and would cause other visual issues as described to me by BenRierimanu and mentioned in the sticky. In 74 the mesh is separate from the tree meshes and is isolated, allowing this fix to work.

To clarify, the material file referenced by the mesh, not the mesh itself. I forget the exact filename, I think it was log1.bgsm or something.

So if I extract desperado's part 1 textures ba2 and find log1.bgsm and delete it. The branches will disappear?

That's a pretty nice screenshot there, may I know which ENB are you using for the screenshot?

Thank ya, it's a custom ENB and Reshade based on the PRC (Photorealistic Commonwealth) mod.

This thing shows up in my game too and I have no idea where its from.
It shows up in Commonweath and elsewhere.
I do NOT have Desperadoes overhaul but I have Project Mojave maybe its injected from there? (shrug)
    I hate those things!

I have Project Mojave as well but I'm hesitant to think that's it. I also have Badlands 2 so I'm wondering if that could be it.

I don't run Badlands or Desperado currently and I have them as well. I am running PRP 69, is that where it comes from? I can't get rid of them to save my life. This mod only works with Desperado and wouldn't help if I updated my PRP to 74?

This material file replacer will work with any PRP 74 based patch or PRP 74 itself, but the thing to remember is that the image shown here is not what they look like typically.

Reference Enhanced Vanilla Plants, specifically the Dead Shrubs part for screenshots of the expected vanilla look. If a texture mod makes the shrub leaves transparent, they aren't typically aware of the newly added branches that also need to be transparent.

For PRP 69, technically you could do the same, but the filename would have to be different, and it would also make parts of the tree meshes transparent as well (since they share the material file in that version)
