I have nothing but respect for anyone that actually authors a mod to these web pages. But I notice a trend of mods that replace the things of the alternate(but not so different, really) world that is Fallout's with the things of this world. So I think: They are unconsciously,or otherwise, trying to make the place that is Fallout into this place that is our 'Real'. And if I installed many or all of those mods,I would then step into a place that was not our world,or that other world. And worse,Fallout would lose that vibe, that thing of artistry established by the many and talented hands that made Fallout in all of it's shadows. This image saddens me. So,your mod looks good. But...the original 'home brew' battery in the game is perfect, for me. It fits that world perfectly. It is a statement of what people can do in the smokey ruins of what was, with just their minds and tenacity. In order to survive, and then rebuild. People like you. ;)
Interesting reflection. There are players and modders trying to make fallout in to a modern setting, me included. For me the reason is the following: To me, Fallout 4 did not feel as Fallout'ish as the previous games. Instead it felt more like a sandbox game in a Fallout dressing. Had it felt more like previous Fallout games, then i would have had different mods. Iv'e tried to make the game more Fallout New Vegas with mods, but it just did not feel the same. However, the first two years of playing Fallout 4 i had barely no mods at all. So maybe it is just that i'm getting tired of the same meshes and the same textures. I think it is a bit of both. Iv'e heard others say the same. And then there are people trying to make Star Wars in Fallout, wich seem really cool, but there are just so much one would have to change to make it properly Star Wars. A moddern setting is much easier to achive. But to hear other players still have that Fallout magic in Fallout 4 is really nice to hear.
That's a weird comment... But I myself, after playing vanilla, albeit briefly, I saw quickly that I wanted an overhaul. F4 just didn't quite feel like Fallout. Something was missing, so it simply became a playground for a modern day, hardcore, zombie apocalypse survival sim, and the likes of Omega, the Modern Firearms guys, those in the MAIM discord, and the many other authors across Discord bringing us modern clothing, are my heroes, and have kept me in the Commonwealth since it first released. Here's to Fallout (202)4!
I too am guilty of the modernizing, what with my use of the high-tech powered armor suits. Personally,I enjoy the mods that enable some nice gear or settlement objects. But,I realize, inwardly, that these are crutches in a rare sort of game that invites survivalist challenge. Your battery looks great. I have mods installed of similarly modern objects, weapons and gear. But I remember that, years ago,it was the effort of surviving with just a bolt-action pipe rifle and a short shotgun that kindled my love for this game. Much as we all grumble,I think Beth made a heck of a thing in this engine. I hope that someone evolves it to yet another, higher and sophisticated level of efficiency. And that, that someone, also loves this game, and make it's future version with some integrity. And an eye towards making a mark, not just a profit. Imagine,a big tech giant putting it's best effort forward, for the best reasons. Maybe that's really what's happening here with the modern-type mods: we all want to build a better Real, somewhere. We should. All stand. We need no Generals. ;)
May I please have your permission to use the assets from this mod in my own 'Misc Items Addons' mod using Base Object Swapper to add these to the game without them replacing the vanilla items? It will only be uploaded to Nexus Mods website and you will be fully credited and linked to. I do not use the donations system and I make no financial gain from this, just straight up sharing and caring.
Omega already released their items as an AIO with BOS support, sweet! Thanks :)
