Wow finally someone took notice on this... MUTANT MENAGERIE sure is hard with that boom bug and hermit crab near the vault..I can deal with the snake at the bridge only the two mentioned before are a pain to deal with.. but I have a mod that puts a portable crafting station in my inventory and craft materials inside the vault so when I emerge out the vault im already geared up.. but if decided to go the normal playthrough its a pain to deal with.. Especially the hermit crab it spawns little minions too and a bit of a tank for a level 1 player to take on.
Somebody mentioned boombugs IN Vault 111, but I've checked both the Legacy version of MM and the more recent Life Finds a Way (only the Base Version, not the scripted ones), but I did not find any boombugs inside the Vault. You are referring to a boombug OUTSIDE the Vault? Is it the creeper inside one of the small buildings?
It's part of the scripted version. It uses script injection to randomly replace any instances of radroaches with a list of possible "bug" enemies, which include boombugs, so if you are using the scripted versions you are quite likely to encounter them in Vault 111. The author has stated that he isn't interested in changing this. If someone else would like to do so, you'd need to de-compile the ba2 and change the script, but that would affect all bug spawns unfortunately.
Ah, thanks for letting us know! I was suspecting it was a scripted thing, because I couldn't find any placed boombugs. I'm afraid someone else has got to do it then, since I know near to nothing about scripting. Plus, I don't use the latest version of MM, I'm sticking with the Legacy version, which suits my load order better. Thanks again!
Ok, I de-compiled the ba2 and went through the injection scripts. There's actually an easier way to do it which should work through just overwriting the esm file. You want to change the Leveled NPC record for "Del20_LCharDynaBug01 [LVLN:05004C5B]" such that the Leveled List Entry for "LCharBloodbug [LVLN:0002866D]" has a level higher than 1 (I'd go with like 5 or something). In all honestly, you may want to do that with everything in the "Del20_LCharDynaBug01" list that isn't a radroach, as well as the "Del20_LCharDynaBugAny [LVLN:050A4239]", and "Del20_LCharDynaBugSmallRadiant [LVLN:050053F5]" entries just in case. That way, if I'm reading the scripts correctly, they won't spawn until the player hits the selected level (which by default is 1, but if you set it to, say 5 or 10, then they won't be able to spawn in Vault 111 during the opening because the player won't be high enough level for them to spawn). In theory, since I haven't actually tested any of that.
Can you also patch those Boombugs in the Vault to be only Radroaches? Boombugs are too much for a starting character with only a baton, they do a lot of damage and even explode cripping your legs or arms. I usually play every run on Very Hard, but sometimes i have to change to Normal only to leave the Vault because of those things.
Which version of Mutant Menagerie are you using? I'm still using the Legacy version, and I just checked, but I only found Radroaches in Vault 111. So maybe it's MM Life Finds a Way that places them there?
Boombugs I can deal with (although I do wish one of the 10mm pistols was in the security office, in the desk with the terminal as an example). The Hermit Crab is tough but avoidable. The Raddler? Frankly, it's a great reason for that dead raider and mongrel on the far side of the Old North Bridge so that thing really needs to stay!
Now if only someone could do something like the anti phobia mods there used to be here back in the day that replaced creatures like roaches and scorpions to robots, if only they could replace rad spiders, ticks, stink bugs and leeches with automation robots or other creatures in the mod as raccoons, beavers and all that, I don’t know how to use FO4edit so that’s why I ask any who knows
I have a real life issue with Scorpions...but now I have a problem with the ticks in the mod. Those things creep me the f**k out, and they're actually dangerous to fight.
MMLFAW is especially chaotic if you us the AI mod that lets npcs do what they want. i left the vault and before id even started looting the nearby bins that hermit crab was already up my ass lmao.
Oui moi aussi, j'adore mutant Ménagerie. Comment jouer sans lui ? Indispensable. Avant j'avais ( La guerre du Commonwealth ) comme mod et je me suis beaucoup amusé avec lui, mais lorsque j'ai connu Mutant Ménagerie, je n'ai pas regretté l'échange. Je préfère son concept.
Plus, when using Post-Apocalyptic Commenwealth (PAC), which overhauls Vault 111's exterior, the crab gets stuck and flies all over the place, which is really silly to watch.

Have fun ya'll!
Went ahead and linked to your mod too, Guido500, for the full remove annoyance experience.
