Put any suggestions, feedback, or general comments here! Please put bugs in the bugs section (duh).
If you suggest something be changed on the map to better fit lore please provide a source from the wiki or elsewhere. This isn't because I'm doubting you, but so I can get a better idea of the canon.
Regardless, have fun and I hope you enjoy having one less eyesore ;p
I'm considering making a totally revamped version with the mod with a more sensible and visually appealing map. Let me know if this is something you'd want to see.
Pretty simple mod but I love it. Only problem I have with it is that it makes globes look too clean, I mean they are supposed to be more than 200 years old lol, but otherwise great mod!
If I remember correctly the globes I replaced are specifically the clean ones. Though I may have actually replaced the dirty globe with a clean textured one now that I'm thinking of it.
Thanks for the suggestion - I've added a new version with just that, but I can't test it currently and there may be issues. Please report if there are any.
I don't have a point of reference I can find, but I think Yugoslavia would still be whole if the USSR and Warsaw Pact were still around. Other than that it looks interesting and the vanilla map with all it's filled in lakes and seas was giving my OCD fits for almost a decade. Thanks for this.
I don't know about Yugoslavia, after Tito it was perpetually unstable and it was split from the Soviets as a neutral power, making it unlikely to get support. I'm almost certain it would've collapsed sooner or later.
I was just thinking that there's a place for both kinds of map/globe. The colored globes work well for modern globes and the rare classroom globe/pre-war globe found in the House Of The Future/Nate&Nora's Prologue House. The colorless one is perfect for replacing the Bland Brown Ball/Antique Globe!
The Cultural freeze of the Endless 50s/Pax Americana which led to things like Cab Calloway still being considered "current" music in the 2070s and massive information control of history, so the antique maps and globes being older, colorless maps of the post-consolidated world kind of makes sense.
I don't think even Bethesda knows what an accurate world map of Fallout looks like, because they just add some "cool" elements to the game without rationality. The same is true of their understanding of world politics. And the vanilla map is more like they used the wrong coloring tool in Windows Paint. The only thing I know is US and CN are two superpowers and US annexed Canada. They didn't even tell us whether China had recovered territories occupied by THE SOUTH ASIA SUPER GREAT COUNTRY. (Serious?)
In my opinion: Germany maybe a powerful country because they designed Gauss Rifle. The division of the countries of Europe and the Middle East is not necessary. Because they also need to swallow each other and get resources and populations for army. Soviet lost control of the frontier regions just like OTL (still a red country as China's ally). But it is also possible to collaborate with Europe for self-preservation. China integrated many neighboring countries and offshore islands for resources. As for Japan, it must have been integrated by China cuz Jingwei is a goddamn Jap and named after a big HANJIAN. India exists only as a geographical noun. Australia is likely to remain on the side of the United States. South America and Sahel Africa,I have no idea. New Zealand. OK. Is there such a country on the map?
All we know about Chinese borders is that they annexed some neighbours.
Germany is never mentioned to be unified so is likely to be split. "The division of Europe and the middle east is not necessary. Because they also need to swallow each other and get resources and population for army" It is mentioned that the European Commonwealth collapsed, so I assumed several real breakaway states gained independence, as shown on the map. Also, the Middle East was invaded and nuked several times, the countries there would be extremely unstable as any resources present had been taken by the EC, hence the fracture Middle East.
Thanks for your reply! I enjoy this mod. You don ‘t have to draw exact boundaries of these unstable areas to show that they are in anarchy. Just draw some light diagonal lines on white in colored version. Russia and India cannot still be big countries, and there will be a lot of small countries in them if you want to highlight the power of China. Actually, Soviet or Russia is a staunch supporter of India in our timeline. You can also draw small countries in western China to show US support for separatist forces. As for the current version everything is perfect if the oversized Russia and India were ignored.
I'm surprised that there are few world map on nexusmods. They all playing OWB mod now?
I don't see why India and the USSR have to be small for some reason. Not much is said about either and I severely doubt the USSR would still be a superpower without the west. Also, the tiny nations aren't to show anarchy, but rather these are areas that have successfully gained independence.
I'm convinced. Can you make this map a manufacturable painting in settlements? I believe that the post-war wastelanders need us to teach them this history.
Fantastic mod, though I was curious, I thought the US completly annexed mexico all the way to the panama canal since raul talks about nukes dropping on mexico city like it was part of the US and the whole Posidion Oil Corporation being in mexico at the time.
I also thought as much, though the people in the fallout discord said the lore states the oil fields where occupied but nothing else. So it seems to be ambiguous.
Doesn't the Mediterranean being drained have some silly lore reasoning based on a crazy real world plan but made sillier with Fallout lore version? A version of the Atlaropa project? I mean could just be silly Bethesda error but that crazy idea seems to scream sci fi enough to be the goal, heck even if Bethesda did not go with it intentionally it gives their world added odd possibilities out there to be interesting. I anyway found that concept interesting but idk just an opinion.
In any case looking at the world map just begs so many questions of what could be out there in the Fallout world that we will prob never get answers to.
100% Not intentional for a few reasons. First of all, it's drawn as though it's it's own country, with zero edits made to the usual European ones, meaning in lore they'd have to drain the Med completely (Almost impossible, would turn most of Europe into desert and salt flats.) and then not give any land to Italy, Spain, Greece, whatever, meaning their once-islands are now exclaves.
Also various other seas are filled, such as the Caspian, the Baltic, the Black, the Red, and the Arabian seas. Also various pockets between random Canadian islands and Indonesia and Malaya.
There's also other major issues. The USSR is disbanded, the US and China are the same despite being stated to annex several neighbours, for example it is explicitly stated Canada has been annexed by the US. Germany is unified, etc. It's identical (other than the issues with the seas) to a map from pre 2006.

Guess you'll have to do with the globe I've just added ;)
Now I can play OWB in my mind without hoi4 lmao.
Care to sweat blood on a replacer?
Expect an update soon (today, or 1-2 days)
Besides, thanks, hope you enjoy!
