Hello there @rsm000rsm I'm not sure if it is intentional or not but hostile scavengers such as the ones found in random encounters like fighting a protectron and a mr. gutsy or fighting rust devils/automatrons and the ones found in fixed locations such as the shooting range by the lake close to Sanctuary are not wearing the Grease Rat Garbs, they are always using regular vanilla scavenger/settler outfits. The friendly scavengers that spawn by dead robots, or the ones that spawn as dead corpses in random encounters (which i assume are the same as the friendly scavengers) spawn with the Grease Rat outfits properly but sadly those hostiles ones not. Do you have any idea if this is an issue or it is actually designed to be this way? Also i'm using your Diverse Scavengers mod too
If you could look into this it would be appreciated, thanks for your attention and your hard work, your mod awesome.
As noted in the mod description, the outfits are available only to those scavengers who use the LvlScavenger, LvlScavengerFemale, and LvlScavengerMale templates. Most scavengers use those templates, but some do not. This ensures that the outfits see widespread use, but not to the point that the vanilla scavenger outfits never get used. The mod has no effect on scavenger temperament or disposition.
Good afternoon! I'm a big fan of a bunch of your output, and your mods make up a significant amount of my new FO4 playthrough modlist Is there any chance you could modify the spawn chance for these outfits so it isn't at a full 100%, or kindly suggest how players could fiddle with the mod in order to do so? I'm not using either of the mods which affect the spawning Scavenger list you mentioned conflicting with yours, but would just appreciate these pieces of clothing being a little rarer out in the wastes. Thank you so much for all the work you've done!
If you want to reduce the outfit frequency, then I recommend forgoing Grease Rat Scavengers and, instead, use the original Grease Rat Garbs mod along with the Settler and/or Raider patch found in the mod's optional files. Those patches reduce spawn chances to around 5% and distribute the outfits to both raiders and settlers. There have been some calls for the author to increase the percentages a bit, so that could happen at some point.
I made "Grease Rat Scavengers" as a way to give the Scavenger Faction an outfit suite of their own since they're the only major faction that doesn't have one. The outfits don't appear on all scavengers, mind you, but it is pretty thorough, and generally, it is limited to random spawn scavengers.
Edit: I can't change the distribution in my mod because it is just a custom leveled list attached to the LvlScavenger NPC (actor) record. So, any scavenger that spawns via that record will use the outfits. Scavengers that spawn through other records won't have the outfits. Hope that made sense.
This might be able to be done conflict free with robco patcher, I tried spid for outfits but I think it's just way too inconsistent here compared to skyrim and worked like 30% of the time, but I got robco to work a lot more consistently for giving nuka world raiders outfits.
I've looked at Robco patcher several times, but it doesn't make sense to me, as if my brain isn't wired to understand it. But then again, there are things in this game that, even a month ago, didn't make sense to me, but now they do. So, I figure I'll return to Robco patcher periodically and, maybe, I'll have an "Aha!" moment.
That said, Grease Rat Scavengers, in its current form, does exactly what I want it to do. As noted in the description, I won't be making patches for other Scavenger outfit overhauls for thematic and aesthetic reasons, but others are welcome to do so if they wish. I do use Eli's Armor Compendium and other general outfit mods, however, so I'll certainly keep an eye out for conflicts there and make patches if necessary.
What sort of mods conflict? I use GRG but also use classy chassis and a lot of Eli's armor and clothing mods. Right now, scavver's are wearing armor and clothing from Eli's Armor Compendium. Any conflict?
Okay, no conflict with Eli's Armor Compendium. Her mod adds to the LL_Scavenger_Outfit list, whereas mine doesn't touch it at all. If you use the two mods together, what you'll find is that most random spawn scavengers will be wearing GRG outfits, while most other scavengers will draw from Eli's modified LL_Scavenger_Outfit list. Best of both worlds, actually.
I have actually run into legit scavengers that are wearing various combinations of the GRG. Were they just part of that original 5% possibility with the mod? I think this is a good idea, btw. I look forward to instantly knowing we have a Scavver coming into the settlement, or running into them on the road.
There are several fairly normal outfits I use to dress some of my settlers. I would love to see your take on fixing the Raider distribution as well so that they don't get sea monster hats, angel wings, and Tutus, among some others.
Yeah, some scavengers will get GRG stuff through that mod's settler patch because scavengers draw on the settler pool, and some settlers use the LL_Scavemger_Outift leveled list. "Grease Rat Scavengers" bypasses all of that to make sure the vast majority of scavengers will have GRG stuff. During testing, I took some screen shots of scavengers "in the wild" wearing the outfits, but I don't know what I did with them, so I couldn't include them. But it was enough to show me that the mod was working as intended.
Somehow missed that last paragraph you wrote. GRG has a number of outfits that, in theory, could cross over nicely into other leveled lists. The medic outfit, for instance, would blend in with the gunners quite well, and wolf and mirelurk hats could fit the trappers. And the tutu would go nicely with the BoS, especially Rhys.
Not for raiders in general, but I might be able to do something for raider scavengers since they have their own faction and, perhaps, their own leveled lists. I'll have to look into it.
So, looking at Grease Rat Garbs, the raider patch adds the outfits to raider lists via script injection and sets the rate at 5%. Increasing that percentage would do the trick; however, I don't know how to do that, so I can't help you there.
That said, most GRG outfits lack a raider aesthetic. I mean, wouldn't it be odd if Gristle or Wired or Judge Zeller spawned wearing a tutu and angel wings? Conversely, there are a handful of GRG outfits that, in my opinion, would blend right in with standard raider outfits. From my perspective, I think the best option is to add those specific GRG outfits to the raider outfit leveled list so that they spawn at the same rate as vanilla raider gear. Perhaps that's something I can do in the future as its own mod.
