I added Enhanced versions of the previous darker Pip-Boy light settings. Enhanced versions now cast shadows and have a lens flare.
-Lens flare is only noticeable in 3rd person -Your body now casts a shadow, so your right side will be dark and the left (where your Pip-Boy is located) will be lit up -The shadow casting is dynamic and moves as your character idles or draws weapons (e.g. it is immersive). With weapons drawn your Pip-Boy is forward facing and you see ahead better than with weapons holstered (see images). -Enhanced version changes are non or barely noticeable in 1st person. -FPS impact is minimal to none, maybe a few frame drops if there's lots of clutter objects casting shadows all at once.
This mod started off as a patch for Enhanced Lights and FX (ELFX) because ELFX had changed the Pip-Boy light radius (strength) to 1600, double it's vanilla value. I found the overly bright interiors too much and it completely undid the dark moody atmosphere that ELFX sought to implement.
Thus I made a changes to Pip-Boy light radius to make it darker so that it wouldn't overwhelm interior environments. With the 1.1 update this mod is beyond being a patch for ELFX (not that ELFX was actually ever a requirement) and stands on it's own as a lightweight Pip-Boy mod.
Hi polingc! Probably the best Pip-Boy light mod out there but it needs some tweaking. I use the enhanced files and in first person view there is some weird shadowcasting when you have your back against a wall (or various meshes for that matter). It is more prominent when you look up or down. My guess is the light source is placed a bit behind the player. Also the lens flare persists in first person view and is most noticeable when jumping.
My first playthrough of Fallout 4 and I have about 90 mods running (bug fixes, performance upgrades, texture/mesh replacers) and coming from Skyrim I see ELFX for lighting and it was just an instant download.
Then in game I'm like "wow Pip Boy is super bright, I'm going to make a mod to turn down that brightness". Then I'm left doing to the Jackie chan 'wtf' meme when I see this was an intentional change in ELFX.
hmn, if it was intentional it might be because they might have been running an darker ENB which might be the reason why they made it so bright in the first place.
Reading through NAC X's description, I'm going to guess 'No, they will not conflict'.
NAC X is a weather and interior space lighting mod so unless the author played around with Pip-Boy light they should work fine together. Pip-Boy has its own light property ID so it's not affected by changes to environmental lights like candles, light bulbs, etc.
