My last playthrough was a hammaring nightmare with my settlers in Sanctuary Hill doing their damn hammaring 24-7! It was dark in the night, no light on, and settlers kept hammering and hammering in the darkness instead of going to their beds, with a Minuteman themed BGM and a freakingly high level of happiness, EIGHTY-EIGHT!
Is my settlement infiltrated by Miraak's worshipers or something?
Anyway, thanks for saving me from that hellish scene!
Someday, there will be so many of these "hammer silencer" mods in use that everyone will think the silence is normal. On that day, I'll post a mod that reintroduces the hammering, and then I'll sit back and watch the comment section fill up with people praising the "novelty" or "immersion" of it. Soon after, of course, folks will insist that the hammering should've been in the game from the start. Others will agree with this sentiment, but also claim that hammering was omitted because Bethesda was being lazy. ;-)
I use a mod that restores Sanctuary except the plot where the hammering is done. And I've made that area a nice little park but it's annoying that the residents will just walk through bushes and chairs to hammer into thin air. If you need noise, then turn on and turn up the music.
Bethesda did get lazy. Limited variety of butt ugly NPCs. All NPC are exactly the same height. All children look alike. In the 21st century they went back to 60's concept of what future vehicles would look like; stupid looking. And the junk everywhere, you'd think after 200 years nature would take care of the crap. And apparently, paint does not work anymore since all the houses, even in mods look like long deserted houses which they are but when people move in, you'd expect they would get tired and clean it up?
And Bugs, Fly's, Molerats, and other animals carrying around heavy weapons, WTF? There are a host of other stupid things that I could say about the game, like when you snipe somebody and wait a few seconds and the other hostiles go back to normal activities like nothing happened? But the list is too long and I'd invite Bethesda to ask for advice on ideas on how they can improve the game or maybe they'll just look at the bottom line and expect to rake in a bunch of money on Fallout 5 without making any "logical" changes.
Oh and Minutemen quests. 1 at a time please, don't rely on the general to do ALL the field work, isn't there other minutemen who know how to support the community?
Maybe it is time to make a mod that replaces/adds an absurd amount of the idle markers as npc_stand/kneel_hammer.
That's not a bad idea, actually. Well, not the everything is hammering part, but attaching an appropriate idle marker/animation to workshop objects could be really cool. Place down mechanical objects (e.g., generators, turrets, etc.), and from time to time thereafter, settlers will stop and work on it with welding, wrenching, and similar animations.
'Course, all hammering all the time, everywhere all at once, would make for an excellent April 1 mod. :-)
Anyone one know if there is a mod that stops that minutemen theme song from being constantly spammed at sanctuary and the castle? It really gets obnoxious after a while
