Azathoth? feels weird calling it that. Like having a Deathclaw called Anu The Everything... sure there are links to Elder Scrolls and Eldritch in the game but it's weird without enough context. maybe calling it something like Shub( as in "The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young") would leave more to question. knowing how racist the guy was makes it feel awkward whenever i read about Shub-Niggurath
Knowing his past puts a lot of different works into question. Sometimes it can really detract from the overall enjoyment, too. So I definitely agree there. And yeah, calling it Azathoth is strange imo.
Recommend names and I'll pick a good one, it's a work in progress and some of the names are corny and lame, I'll admit. I thought it fitting and I'm a Lovecraft fan, but I get your point. I wanted him bigger and with more flames, thinking of making him explode like a nuke upon death and maybe retexturing him so he's more unique.
Honestly the name is 100% fine. They're just being weird about it. Fallout, for many a year, has been RIDICULOUSLY on the nose with it's Lovecraftian elements. I do, however, support your idea of a more unique retexture. You can never go wrong with doing that for named individuals.
dont downsell the flaw without some contrary reasoning! :O 100% fine as a joke, as idiot-proofing, or a mockery of source material, else it'll feels like a mistake, a lazy ham-fisted move, or an arbitrary attempt at cohesive themes by a newbie. The mildly fun allusion that those familiar with the material would get is lost without subtlety. I reckon Bethesda being on the nose is usually idiot-proofing or lazy allusion. I digress, it's been a long time since this post was made so i dont think the modder is interested anymore. also, we didnt give him names to choose from, just my lone example, a likely discouragement. actually, now i think about it, it would be more suitable to not have creature names in a mysterious horrific dungeon dive. Just remove them!
I agree this mod is a failure. I forgot about it until these last few posts. I've posted a warning on the description. The names are honestly not even close to the worst thing about this mod. This was my first attempt at a creature mod and it was a learning experience. My first weather mod was trash also. I learned my lesson and have spent months learning. I'm keeping this mod up with the warning despite this, as it seems some people actually like it for some reason.
lol. yeah, a lot of the stuff people make while learning has unstable and reundant stuff. good to move on and note that it's not worth fixing when you can do something actually fun/efficient with your time.
Both Skippy and Azothoth went flying from their death explosions, might be a good idea to remove the force from the death spells for smaller and jankier creatures.
I'll return to this mod once I'm done with Colorful Creatures Redux. I'm cleaning it up, making it standalone, retexturing the ugly ones, making more fog touched variants, adding Mirelurk Queen Variants to it, and then patching it to work with my favorite creature packs.
I'll come back to this failure to make it a worthwhile mod alongside some frozen retextures I've been making for these mods.
I'm prioritizing the others because I think they're more worthwhile, and there is a lack of frozen and far Harbor creature variation on Nexus.
It's a work in progress. I'll look into the perks and spells, the creatures are basically copies of the originals with added hyper bog effects. I'll be updating this soon so please bring any weird bugs and annoyances you find to my attention if you this is something you want expanded.
