Cheesy Headcanon:

The Wasteland legends tell of a global outbreak, many years ago, that is the cause of the many dangers found today. As the legends say, strange objects fell from the sky, and landed just outside several major cities. Boston being one such place, in what is now known as the glowing sea. The blasts were devastating as it was, and crippled the great cities of the old world, but that was only the beginning. That mysterious impact brought something deadlier with it.

The massive impact and shock-wave only served to spread the unknown disease the objects carried across the atmosphere. Originally, most thought it harmless dust, kicked up by the blast, until the symptoms began. Initially bearing striking similarities to radiation poisoning, the long term effects ended up being much more sinister. While some proved to be immune to the worst of the symptoms, getting away with only a hideous rotted appearance and immunity to the perils of age, most were not so lucky. Their minds rotting to madness, they soon began violently spreading the disease to any who had not been exposed already.

Between the atmospheric propagation, and the feral abominations that resulted from those it effected, it wasn't long before the disease became a worldwide issue. In the ensuing panic, some nations took the opportunity to strike at others for resources, which only served to further spread the disease, until, 300 years later, as the smoke clears from the following wars, struggling for survival became a way of life for most, if not all survivors of the great plague.
Rudimentary suppressants and immune boosters were finally created to resist and purge the disease, but the worst of the damage was already done. The disease remains deadly and prevalent across the globe for any without sufficient immunoboosters and antiinfectant, which remain in constant short supply amid the perilous wastelands of this new Earth. This calamity pushed humanity back to the middle ages, and it may never return to its former glory.

This mod will replace several environmental textures, UI elements, Item and Enemy names, etc. to replace references to radiation and radioactive monstrosities with biohazard and infection based equivalents.

This includes Radioactive Barrels (now biohazard barrels), the Radiation popup in your HUD (now a biohazard symbol and BIO instead of RADS), Radaway and Radx (Now AntiInfectant and Immunoboosters respectively), Loading screen tips that reference radiation, and enemies that have radiation references in their name...you know the kind...Radstags, Radscorpions, etc. (now Infected Stags, Infected Scorpions, etc.). I've also change the Geiger counter sound with a gradually rising audible heartbeat, and writhing infection sounds being overlayed in the final deadly tier of biohazard levels (halo's flood infection form sounds were perfect for this)

I was inspired to make this by playing with Kelcken's Flood Infection mod, which I suggest using this alongside, though that is not a requirement, if you just want fallout, but with a zombie disease instead of nukes for the story. If I missed something cuz I'm too used to playing with that mod, let me know. Specifically radroaches are a concern.

I wanted to add a screen effect that rises in intensity the stronger the biohazard you're in, to coincide with the new sounds, but I couldn't even figure out where to get started there, so I ditched that. It's just like vanilla rads for now (sound and UI popup)

Includes FOMOD installer for Vanilla only, or Vanilla + DLCs compatibility.

This is NOT compatible with other mods that modify the same elements, or add new items that reference radiation. Others are MORE than welcome to create patches to support them as long as the other mod's author is ok with it.
The same applies for translations

NOT EFFECTED:
This does not replace radiation weapons like the gamma gun, or Radium Rifle. This is just because I couldn't think of a Biohazard themed equivalent to justify it, so uh...just pretend that radiation exacerbates and accelerates the infection.

Quest dialogue and text referencing radiation is not effected. I do not have the money to hire all of the bethesda voice actors to redub that.
