In the base game Feeding The Troops works like this:
Proctor Teagan tells you about a farm. It can be owned or unowned by the player.
You persuade, intimidate, bribe, or murder the settlers into giving you their crops.
A messages pops that tells you the Brotherhood now controls this settlement.
Nothing actually changes concerning the workshop's owernship.
No matter how you resolve the quest, the workshop gets a -50 penalty to happiness.
This mod makes the following changes to the quest:
Teagan only sends you to unowned farms.
After securing the crops, you gain control of the workshop.
No more happiness penalty.
This gives you a lore friendly way to claim these settlements for Brotherhood focused playthroughs when you don't want to mess around with Preston and the Minutemen. Mostly for roleplay purposes.
The quest does run out once you've claimed all the unowned farms. When you select the dialogue option Teagan will say he has more farms for you, but the option to accept the quest will be replaced with the option to barter. Not a very elegant solution, but it works so that's good enough for me!
