Very nice. AI did this? Neat. I think the originals look the way they do cos it's supposed to reflect the paint fading after a couple of hundred years, and unless there's a decent artist in the house, it's not gonna get better.
AI generated images were used as the starting point, and then details were changed and added as needed. Emogene's portrait I had to do very little to, while Lorenzo's was very intensive, and done over the course of a couple days. I can't remember if this was one of the ones I used, but the image below is what a typical AI generated result will look like. As you can see it makes a lot of errors. It shortens the workload, but still requires a lot of work to be made presentable.
Yeah, they're different to a point where they don't really have analogues within the universe, and don't really fit the family's aesthetic. Don't get me wrong, they look good - just not in the spirit of the originals. Too much has changed, too much detail has been added where there intentionally was less, if that makes sense.
I might do it for some of the generic paintings, there's a few of them that look like they were quickly rushed. The colonial ones I think already look really good
