I'll keep an eye out and see if I start encountering these same issues, but so far I haven't. If you're certain this mod is the cause then I can only recommend uninstalling it. Dealing with WARS stutter is better than dealing with crashes.
Just to be clear, this change means that NPCs (including followers and settlers, when given weapons and ammo by the player) can have ammo sub-types in their inventory that they won't be able to use.
It might also cause some other weirdness, since the script that adds the dummy weapons when a supported weapon is equipped will check to see if any dummy weapons are missing when it's equipped, and if so it will add the dummy weapon levelled list. In other words, a random dummy weapon added whenever the weapon is equipped (with this change; not in WARS by itself). Which could theoretically cause additional micro-stutters in more situations than without this change?
I don't know; I didn't design the script to be used this way. (And it's late here and I need to go to bed.)
Like I said in the description, this mod is mostly a stop gap until a more proper fix exists. Though in my testing with this mod, I haven't noticed any new microstutters. If you have concerns about the method I used to reduce stuttering, you can always find/create another way to fix it. Being the original author of WARS I'm certain you can do a better job than I did with this quick fix.
Unfortunately no, this mod only alleviates the stuttering. But thankfully the long load times from WARS only seem to apply to loading saves. I already have some pretty friggin long save load times thanks to WARS, but normal load times seem unaffected.
From ma experience, weapon stutter come because mod author add oversized textures and gigatons of polygons on their weapons mod... A vanilla weapon weight less 20mb while mod authors can create ultra mega quality weapon that weight 1.5gb, imagine the massive work the engine has to do to load and show that in fraction of second, I abandoned all idea to use mod weapon far long time ago
WARS stutter problem comes entirely from how its ammo switching mechanic was implemented for NPCs, which is what my mod alleviates. The weapon models themselves aren't an issue and WARS largely uses vanilla weapons anyways.
