Well I don't know why but it does not work ... still exit to desktop save.....

I have installed using MO2 - have all the required add-ons - am OLD GEN NOT next gen .... there is no spawned INI file ... what am I doing wrong???

This a gift from god mod --- my normal has always been "Save" then quit - which is "save to desktop" - then go to my save files and delete the exit save because they NEVER worked, always CTD on game launch using them ...

I can't figure our why your mod does not work after install - looks to be all there????   Your assistance would be appreciated ... thanks

PS I am using your Version 1.3 should I use an older version like 1.2 for OLD GE game?

This works as mentioned.   The game interface prompts you and you have to answer "yes",
When you load up the game again - there is no exit save.
Easy to test this simply by playing the game for 1/2 hour to an hour and just exiting without saving.
It prompts you, and it does it's thing.   Start right back were you started from - with all that "progress" lost.
      -----
I've had some instances of CTD, but until I can confirm this mod is the cause I can't say it is.
Most of the issues come from testing save reloading.   Either the game automatically doing that or by testing "save scumming" and reloading a save immediately after hitting the menu.
I need to test this with only this mod installed and repeat those same scenarios.
      ----
i.e. that could be a memory management issue or an issue with this mod - further testing I need to do.

Hey author. thank you for the mod, firstly and secondly i wanted to say thank you i was going to ask how to get into that ini file mentioned but figured out it appears in your data folder only after first launching the game with it enabled. i can finally play the game in survival mode without the need for survival since i just want to play the game with AD76! thanks man!

thank you so much, once again lazy bethesda couldn't do something simple as option to disable this that we have to constantly rely on modders for
    once again thank you PK0

TBH, I think Bethesda meant this as a feature.
      Hear me out.
You give players options they will tick them.
So they give them the ability to stop saves everywhere (to save space for no other reason)
      ----
So what happens is the average joe turns off all these saves in the options (because some "guide" told them to and they are sheep...), are playing for a couple hours and DON'T manually save, then realize that without that "transparent" Exit Save they have just lost 2 hours or so of gameplay and rage like a Scottish Highlander on a bender?
      ----
In the hands of sane players modding their game - this is gold.    We know what we are doing, save regularly and don't need handholding.
Unfortunately, a lot of people who mod their game need handholding.   In fact people literally make mods to protect themselves from themselves - because they have no self-discipline.   If they use this it may very well disable the one lifeline that protects themselves from themselves - and have no earhtly idea that is what it was designed to do.  They just did it because some "guide" told them to.

no, its just bethesda being lazy. if you're smart enough to install mods you know how to save. no ifs hows or buts.

This is a great mod! Generally speaking, saving when exiting is a useful feature. However, after installing Sim2, I found that the save file upon exiting is often corrupted and cannot be loaded. So now I usually use Alt+F4 to exit the game.

Personally I'm not sure why you'd want to totally disable exitsaves as a feature, on the odd occasion that I am actually trying to avoid getting an exitsave I just open my pip-boy before exiting (the game can't save while your pip-boy menu is up).

Good on ya for making it, though, judging by the comments there's apparently a market for this sorta thing.

There have long been concerns that overwriting save files randomly corrupts them. As a result, a lot of people avoid ever loading and continuing from a quicksave, autosave or exitsave. The first two are fairly easy to avoid, but if you forget to block exitsaving when you exit and then just "continue" from the menu the next time you want to play, you may accidentally end up continuing from a (more likely to be corrupt) exitsave.

Eh, I just never used it. I always save manually before exiting and so the exit save is just redundant and makes it slower to close the game. Not to mention, it's currently fine on my end, but I had a previous build where the game always crashed on exit, and I'm at least 90% sure this exitsave was the root of it (obviously because of some mod, but if I had to choose one, I'd choose the mod over the save).

the bethesda engine does not and never did "overwrite" save files.
The notification in the menu asking if you want to overwrite is simply shorthand for the sake of user clarity.

All "overwriting" a save actually does, is delete the save being overwritten and replace it with the brand new save file you just created.
The only thing carried over between save file's is the slot number, which is simply added onto the file name as its generated and is not written into the save data itself.

...and screw it up in the process.

Read my text, autosave, quicksaves, and exitsaves DO mess up saves just as badly as messing with mods mid-run will do.

Okay, I have one question though.  If you play on survival, you're only options are autosave, quicksave and exit save.  Assuming you don't want to save scum, and use a Save Game mod, that's the main reason for wanting to disable it.  It's too easy to abuse.  And, not everyone is as tech savvy as the 8 people who still play this game, so it's a nice way to de-cheesing aspects of the game.

I have almost 6,000 hours in FO4.  I've only ever played on survival, and have never once had an issue with quicksave/autosave/exit save corrupting anything.  I think that's most likely a  myth spread by people trying to explain why their saves keep getting corrupted when it's most likely they don't know about conflict resolution, cleaning mods, and error checking and probably got HITME files.

My exit saves keep getting corrupted. I have to delete it from my folder or else my game will crash. Crashes. So I delete the exit save. Does not crash. Weird. Yeah, I need this mod.

Auto saves, quick saves, and exit saves are identical to reguler saves in terms of how the data is written and stored.
The only difference between these saves and a regular "manual" save is what triggers the saves.

If your having issues of your quick/auto/exit saves becoming corrupted, then that means there is something fundamentally wrong with your game setup that is corrupting the data.
If that is the case then even your regular saves are at risk of becoming corrupted.

Instead of trying to blame the games save feature, you should instead be going through your mods to figure out which is causing issues, so you can report it to the author, or remove it from your install.

Because exit saves consistently cause crashes for a lot of people. I'm downloading this a year after you posted this comment because Bethesda STILL hasn't fixed the problem. I have to restart my PC to get fallout 4 to close if I forget to open my PipBoy to prevent it from doing an Exit Save when I quit the game.

The game engine is very bad and currently those who do not have this problem is because they have a light loading order without many mods; instead most have modlist with more than 200 mods with many scripts a bad save will spoil the execution of these; you can use console util and select your character there is a part where it says active scripts; you will be surprised to see several active at once and that is only your character, the rest of the world also counts, any type of actor.
