Changelogs
Version 2.1
Update the record version, ported level cap bug fix from UFO4P to the plugin. You don't need UFO4P but the level cap bug will be fixed and Nick Valentine will now level above 99
Version 2.0
Delete scripted version, it works exactly like the original implementation.
Add the perk version
Version 1.2
Added a more reliable 'Record Edit' version of the mod
Don't you think it's strange that, after the introduced Robot Repair Kit in Automatron, they didn't make Nick Valentine using it, even though he's completely mechanical? We have a fix for that, this mod allows you to use robot repair kits on Nick Valentine.
A while ago, a mod to make you use Robot Repair Kit on Nick Valentine has been made, Use Repair Kits On Nick Valentine. However this mod functions using OnHit event, which means the script will be trying to change Nick Valentine stimpak keywords everytime he is attacked. This makes the mod unreliable, and can cause script lag and conflicts with scripted combat mods such as Better Locational Damage, PANPC, PACE, or anything that runs when npcs are getting hit.
Now, I came up with two different implementations that would improve the performance of something that should've always been There are two versions to choose.
Record Edit Version
UPDATE : Now ported level cap bug fix from UFO4P to the plugin. You don't need UFO4P, but the Nick Valentine Level cap bug will be fixed if you have this mod installed too.
Edited his record so that he will use Robot Repair Kit, this version is the most lightweight should be the most compatible with mods that run scripts during combat. It will function in a lot more reliable way and will always work. Good ol' simple way of changing things. However it will conflict with anything that edits Nick Valentine directly so you would have to make a patch in FO4Edit if you have mods that change his record somehow.
Perk Version
In case you don't want to risk overriding Nick Valentine vanilla record. This version is less reliable, and function through perk. A new perk is added to the player, which changes the keywords on Nick Valentine when you look at him. The catch is that... well, you have to point cursor at Nick Valentine once after you hire him as a companion for this to work... which is something that you would do without realizing anyway. You see 'Nick Valentine' on your cursor? yep, you looked at him, and he will be repaired by robot repair kit.
The perk is automatically added to the player via script at the start, if that fails, use the console command and type in
...and don't forget to look at your clockwork dick ;)
