Fixes the overly large collision boxes that leave some weapons floating or colliding over too large of an area.

Changelogs
The Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch has been updated to v2.1.6, and with that update the bugs covered in this mod have been addressed directly by the patch. As such, I am discontinuing all future support and updates for this bugfix. You can still use this mod if you want. I'm fully aware that Fallout 4 v1.10.980 is rather controversial, and I don't make a habit of deleting my mod pages anyway. Many people will use the unofficial patch, but others may choose to remain on the old version of the game indefinitely. That choice is up to you to make.

I've preserved the original description below:

Ever noticed a plasma pistol floating in midair? Or a laser musket impossibly balanced on the grip alone? It turns out a few guns in the game have invisible collision boxes that reach much further than they should.

FEATURES

  • Fixes the collision on four "dummy" objects used as the core for a variety of Bethesda-made guns.
  • Seriously, that's it. Laser pistols, laser rifles, laser muskets, plasma pistols, plasma rifles, and a few other gun items have oversized collision from a utility model. That's gone now.
  • As an incidental side effect of the above fix, the guns actually sound like guns when dropped. Previously, that would only happen when dropped at certain angles because the oversized collision box uses the wrong material.

FAQ

How do I start using this mod?
Just install it! No configuration or special steps necessary.
Is this compatible with gun mods?
Yes, it should be compatible with the majority of gun mods. If a mod replaces the same files, there is probably a conflict. I have more information on that in the comment section.
There are other weapons with weird collision, why didn't you fix them?
Most other weapons with oversized collision (such as the flare gun) have that collision baked into a primary model. This means they would need a replacer for the actual weapon, with new collision made from scratch. That is very different from just removing the collision from a utility model like I did here.
Is this safe to use in an existing game?
Yes. However, due to changing the "size" of some guns, guns placed in the world are likely to move around a bit after installing this mod.
