    A Guide to avoid Problems.

    1. As the menus of this mod are a little wonky here is what to do to avoid problems.

    Select Decorations.
    Select Wall Decorations.
Select a Painter Category (John Martin Paintings, Thomas Cole Paintings, Fredric Edwin Church Paintings, Clara Peeters Paintings, Jacques-Louis David Paintings)
Select Painter Submenu, keep hitting up.
You should now have access to the paintings.

    1. Decorations, 2. Wall Decorations, 3. Painter Category, 4. Painter Submenu, 5. Actual Paintings.

I've never added SMM to a mod before so that is the reason for the wonky menus, I apologize for the inconvenience.

    2. If you are not able to reach the menus you may want to try the No SMM versions of the mod.

The No SMM Versions don't contain a sub menu so it goes 1. Decorations, 2. Wall Decorations, 3. Painter Category, 4. Actual Paintings.

There is a No SMM version of the all in one pack and there are No SMM patches for the individual mods in the Misc. downloads section, it should be noted that if you are using the individual patches you need to use either one patch or all of them plus the All Paintings No SMM Patch otherwise there will be compatibility problems.

      March 11, 2024 Edit.

It seems that for some people the SMM version of the mod doesn't work for them and for a few unfortunate people even the non SMM version of the mod doesn't either so I have released a new version of the mod, 3. PDPP AIO Packed No SMM Direct Workshop Edit, that removed all of the individual painter categories and just sticks all of painting (all 200 of them) in the default paintings category.

To access the painting of this file simply go to Decorations > Wall Decorations > Paintings and then scroll to the right. I'll admit that this isn't the ideal solution, but if you can't get the other versions of the mod to work this should work.

I must mention, however, that if you download the 3. PDPP AIO Packed No SMM Direct Workshop Edit file you will run into conflicts if another mod directly modifies the workshopRecipe_PictureFrames02 formlist, such as "Luxor's Paintings - Workshop Items".

If you have a conflict all you need to do is to open up FO4 Edit and look at my mod, then look at FormID list, and then look at the workshopRecipe_PictureFrames02 entry. If nothing else is touching the workshopRecipe_PictureFrames02 entry besides the vanilla game then you don't need to do anything, if there is something else touching the workshopRecipe_PictureFrames02 entry like Luxor's paintings then right click on the workshopRecipe_PictureFrames02 entry and then click "copy as override into" then create a new esp and then add all of the conflicting entries into this new workshopRecipe_PictureFrames02 entry, and then save and exit.

The mod currently adds 135 paintings sourced from Wikipedia from the painters John Martin, Fredric Edwin Church, and Thomas Cole.

Just install the Settlement Menu Manager Mod and either one of my Files, then go to the settlement menu and select decorations, then select wall decorations, and then select one of the painter categories and hit the up button twice to access the paintings.

All Paintings add 1 happiness to a settlement and use the large painting frame for the best visuals.

You have a choice between the three painters and you have a choice between Ba2 files or Loose Files, all esp's are flagged as esl's.

All of the paintings are 1k, but don't take that as a sign of lower quality because they still look fantastic and it should be noted that most of the painting were natively at or near 1k res anyways on Wikipedia so upping the paintings to 2k wouldn't have made the majority of them look better and the file sizes would have ballooned for no good reason.

The next painter I am planning on adding to the mod, in the future, will be Jacques-Louis David, but if any one has a suggestions I'll be willing to listen so long as the painter has their paintings on Wikipedia, are in the public domain, and are safe for work. I may make a version of this mod that feature not safe for work paintings, but that will be in the future.

    Anyways, Enjoy the mod!

      Uploaded 5 new files.

I updated the Thomas Cole files so they would include the hotfix, If you are new you only need to download the Thomas Cole Paintings file that you want and nothing else, but if you have the old v1.00 files then you only need to download the hotfix and nothing more.

I uploaded a hotfix for the Thomas Cole Paintings files so you don't need to download the new v1.01 versions of the Thomas Cole Paintings files if you already have the v1.00 files. I accidently set the material dds target for Thomas Cole Painting 12 to a Fredric Edwin Church dds, the hotfix corrects this oversight.

The other 2 files I uploaded were some new paintings this time by the Flemish painter Clara Peeters, she did a lot of still life paintings of food so that will add to the variety of paintings greatly I believe.

Jacques-Louis David's paintings are next on this list so keep an eye out!

Well, we are up to 214 painting now with the release of the Jacques-Louis David paintings, in either Packed or Loose files.

Jacques-Louis David did a lot of portraits so that should create even more variety in the painting selections, he's most well know for his portraits of Napoleon, but he also did portraits of other people, such as the death scene of Jean-Paul Marat and did some neoclassic paintings of Socrates, King Leonidas, and the various Greek mythical figures.

      Enjoy!

Thank you for putting the names down on the images tab, I really enjoyed looking at those images and looking at every little detail on those paintings. Its amazing what human beings can do with a brush.

It's a shame... I really like the paintings, but it simply DOES NOT WORK. I have followed your install directions to the letter. I've tried every combination, version, order of the downloads. Nothing appears in any menu while in the workshop. When installing the mod, everything is where it's supposed to be and the .esl loads. Nothing... I use SMM and every other mod that requires it works without a problem. If anyone has gotten this mod to work, I'd really like to know how...

Update... Author added a new AIO file that worked. Very nice! Thank you!

No problem and thank you for your pictures.

And for everyone else, the new file being referenced is the "3. PDPP AIO Packed No SMM Direct Workshop Edit" and for more information about it please read the March 11, 2024 Edit pinned comment above. Basically I got rid of the individual categories and placed all of the paintings in the default painting folder, Decorations > Wall Decorations > Paintings.

I can't get this to work, not sure what it is. It explains
    1. Decorations, 2. Wall Decorations, 3. Painter Category, 4. Painter Submenu, 5. Actual Paintings.
I'm stuck on "Paint Category", I can't proceed to the Submenu's. There is no arrow up indicator on each category.
I'm using the main version smm. Don't really want to use the non smm version.

My suggestion would be to download the No SMM version and try that, but if you don't want to use that one just yet you could try this,

      • Make sure SMM is enabled
      • Uninstall or disable Public Domain Paintings
      • Run game with SMM Enabled
      • When in game Use the SMM Holotape and select the Settlement Menu Rescue option
      • Make hard save (Not Quick or exit)
      • Reinstall Public Domain Paintings

I suggested this once before, but while it didn't work for that person it may work for you. If not then perhaps you could start a new game and see if that fixes the problem or, if you don't have it, you could install the workshop framework and try to load you current game or start a new one.

If none of this work then I would suggest uninstalling the version of Public Domain Paintings that requires SMM and install the version of Public Domain Paintings that doesn't require SMM and see if that works.

I swear I am merely curious, not trying to make you tear out my hair (or your own!) when I ask if making the paintings into a new option for ACS (Art Connoisseur System) would get you around the categorization issue.

Perhaps, but after looking over at the ACS comments section I worry that we would have a similar issue some people have with SMM where the menus appear for some people and don't appear for others.

Also, there are no permissions listed for that mod so I don't know if I could even make an ACS option and as the author hasn't been active in a few years I don't think I'd get a reply if I asked for permission.

Thank you for the suggestion though, but I won't add an ACS option.

That's cool. I do wonder if the author's Discording off somewhere, but they may have just moved on like Dr. Ren.

Hey just wanted to let you know that the NO SSM Loose file has something wrong with its either corrupted or broken on nexuses end but you can't preview contents and whenever you download the file it just says corrupted that is both through manual and vortex. I wanted to try that version because for some reason the Packed ones crash my game while the loose one loads the game but won't show in workshop so I wanted to try the Loose SSM and see if it worked.

Thank you for pointing out that error and I've uploaded a new version of the "2. Public Domain Paintings Pack AIO No SMM Loose" file under the optional tab to fix it. The file should now display its contents on nexus and install properly with your mod manager.

      Have fun.

Nice pics, you make a better house than me that's for sure.

If anyone else wants to post some pictures like this in the images tab you now can without my verification, forgot to make that change.

Thanks for giving the mod a try by the way :)
